Used for learning purposes ( trying to master the art of painting vehicles during quarantine) , wet sands perfectly with 2000 and 3000 grit sandpaper and buff out great for a spray can paint . Its also cheaper to buy at home depot compared to autopart stores.

Like others have said, this product dries to a dark, drab, military green color. While spraying, before its dry it seems like it will be a perfect black. I put on four light coats. I used it to spray an after market saddlebag for to go on a matte black motorcycle. If the black was off a little bit I could have lived with it. It's not even close...it's green. I will sand it down and find another product.

Did the job at a very small expense
on a last resort to save our car's dignity it seemed like going with a black paint job couldn't fail. the application was easy and I was able to do the whole car in a bout 2 hours because everything dried so fast. I would highly recommend painting the car each panel at a time to allow for even coverage. the color was black under the shade but did have a greenish tint to it in the sunlight.

Great noe but lets see how well it holds up
The paint does go on a dark olive as someone mentioned in different lightings. However, I used this paint to paint my wheels. I had to use about 7 coats on each wheel and there still were spots that were't sticking...it turned out looking OK but lets see how long it will hold up !!

My opinion of Rust-Oleum Matte Black paint and Home depot
Shopped around to find the best deal on Matte Black Rust-Oleum and HD is it. I really like the finished coat of paint. Looks great

NOT BLACK
Would have liked to read all the reviews stating this product does not appear black once dried. Used on both front and back trim pieces and both look dark army green. AND YES, I did properly prep the area, shake the cans, and shake some more. Still green. So Lame. I would not even call it matte. It's a gloss army green finish?!?! Super disappointing.

Sure enough it’s green
I didn’t believe the reviews. But I should have. It is green without a doubt. Now I get to sand and start all over. Why hasn’t rustoleum fixed this? Is someone there color blind?? Very frustrated.

Used this for a bike. I primed it with several coats of primer as recommended prior to painting. The color looks good to me, but scratches very easily so not very durable. I would try a different brand if I were to do it again, or get it powder coated.

Let's see if we can get to the bottom of this, Jack! While Rust-Oleum Automotive Matte Finish Spray Paint will cure to a hard finish, it does take 7-10 days in ideal conditions to fully cure and reach full adhesion and durability. We recommend avoiding abrading the surface before that point.
