Honestly I did not like this paint at all. I’ve used many flat black paints. This one baffled me. It was blue. I mixed and mixed this paint and it still looks navy blue. It does dry more black than blue but definitely not at all what I was expecting from a. Flat black. Will be returning. I used krylon colormaxx flat black instead and I love it

Let's see what awe can figure out Becca. As stated on the label, Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover Black Brush Paint appears blue when wet, when completely dry it will be black.

    Terrible coverage and unworkable
This paint is awful. I primed and after 2 coats have to do 2 more. The formula is thin and it doesn’t cover well. Try to put it on a bit thicker and it drips. Try to clean up you drips and the paint comes off. Can see brush strokes and ugh I hate this.

Oh no, not something we like to hear. For best results, apply Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover Brush Paint with a good quality synthetic brush. Avoid excessive brushing as this will reduce film thickness and protection. Use light even strokes to ensure smooth and uniform flow. Give us a call at 800-481-4785 so we can hear more about your application and work to make things right.

Looked great then bubbled two days later
I used the oil rubbed bronze to paint a wood fence. I had one thin coat done and let it dry for two days. These bubbles were appearing all over. I have no idea what went wrong but I now have a new expensive gate that is a disaster because of the paint.

We need to know more to get to the bottom of this Amelia. Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover Brush Paint can be applied to metal and wood, priming is recommended when painting bare wood. Bubble development typically is caused by some type of surface contamination. Give us a call at 800-481-4785 so we can hear more about your application and work to make things right.

Paint will not stick to itself for a second coat!
This paint looks good in the can, but do not be deceived. I bought two of these cans two and a half weeks ago to paint a pine book case I was making. The paint does not cover in one application. If you try to put on a second coat it beads up leaving voids

Hi Charlie, this sounds like an issue known as fisheye development, and it is caused by surface contamination. Fisheyes occur when you apply a coat of paint, and the paint pulls back in areas as though it is being pushed away. With water-based paints, surface oils, even oils from touching the surface or previous coat can create a contaminant that will push the water-based paint away. To prevent fisheyes, clean the surface with soap and water and wipe with clean water if the previous coat has been sitting for a while. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

          Nightmare to Use
This paint is a nightmare to use. It went on thin and then dripped. So far I have put on two coats and it isn’t covering at all.

          Almost Flat
Without a primer this paint covered in two coats. The first coat dried to a slight sheen. The second took it a lot closer to flat black. Make sure to mix well prior to each use as it tends to separate quickly. Wet it has the appearance of an indigo blue which is great when applying the second coat as reveals any missed spots. Drys quick even in the humid south and looks nice as it broadcast the grain of the wood. My only concern is that is not truly flat black.

Way too thick. DOES NOT ADHERE TO PRIMER
I am not new to painting. I have painted many projects and interiors in my life. First of all, I almost returned it because my dark brown was purple. But then discovered Tiny print stating this is normal and would dry brown. I sanded my project. I coated with primer. The next day I applied this crap. As I painted it thickened and clumped together, it wouldn't spread. I tried so hard to do a thin coat so it wouldn't be thick but it just got worse. Then, as I painted a small 1 foot by 2.5 foot area, I started to go back over areas I that had not been completely covered by my first stroke (no more than 10 seconds after the initial stroke) and it LIFTED the first layer up. I did use generic primer to save money because it's just primer. But it behaved like drying oil based paint. It absolutely wrecked my project.

That doesn't sound right, Jessica! Generally, if the primer is also lifting from the surface after applying the Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover Paint, then that tells us that there is some kind of contamination, the surface isn't paintable, or the original finish isn't paintable, which would prevent any paint from being applied on top from adhering. We want to hear more about your experience and try to make things right with you. Please feel free to call us at (800) 481-4785 to talk about this more and make sure to have the product handy! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

This product covered my bathroom cabinets beautifully! It has just enough sheen to stand out but not yelling, "I'm shining." Years earlier, I varnished these cabinets. The cabinets took the new paint very well after only very light sanding and cleaning with TSP. So far, it has proven to be very durable. Gullah

I used this product (white color) to cover a patio set for heavy wicker furniture that was stained with dark and black areas from being out in the weather. It was the original the standard light brown color. I tried the spray paint first on 1 small piece but found it much harder to cover and do the small piece as it took numerous sweeps to cover. After switching to the canned paint, gloss finish, and using a regular paint brush I was really pleased at how fully and easily covered the wicker furniture. Looks brand new! The canned paint was much less expensive than the spray cans and was very easy to apply a single coat to get the job done. Cleanup was a snap as all that takes to clean the brush was soap and water. Awesome product, excellent coverage and inexpensive to use.
