Answer

Thanks for reaching us! If your grill is new, we feel it best to let it naturally wear until it's ready. The Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Bar-B-Que Spray Paint is geared more towards to refreshing the worn down surface. We hope this helps! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

Answer

Thanks for reaching out. Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint is designed for application to high heat surfaces such as the exterior of barbeque grills and wood burning stoves. This coating requires heat curing, raising the surface temp to 450°F for 1 hour to dry properly. High Heat is not suitable for application to radiators. Standard Rust-Oleum paints can be applied to surfaces that do not exceed 200°F. If the surface temperature of the radiators do not exceed 200°F, we recommend using Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Paint. https://www.homedepot.com/s/rustoleum%2520stops%2520rust?NCNI-5 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

This doesn't answer the question of what good is this product if you are an average home owner who wants to paint their grill or fire pit and does not have access to a professional oven to cure it at a temperature of 450 degrees or more? Will the product still work or last if you do NOT do the curing process as stated?

Thanks for reaching out! The Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray can handle indirect heat up to 1200 °F. As long as the drip pan is not in direct contact with the food and does not reach over 1200 °F, you can use the product. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

Can I paint the backs of my cookie sheets with rustoleum high heat paint?

Asked by Cooking January 14, 2021
1
Answer

Happy to clear things up. Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray is suitable for surfaces that will not exceed 1200ºF. This coating also cannot be exposed to direct heat or flames as it will cause the paint to crack and peel off. For this reason, we don't recommend this product for that application. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Can you use on the outside of an air fryer?

Asked by Alicia January 8, 2021

Answer

Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint is intended for use on metal surfaces that reach temperatures well above 250°F and do not have direct contact with food or an open flame/heat source. Please keep in mind, the surface does need to be heated as instructed to fully cure the coating. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Can it be used on a regular stove on the outside

Answers

We appreciate your interest, Danielle! Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint is intended for use on metal surfaces that reach temperatures well above 200°F but do not have direct contact with an open flame. We do not recommend this product for use on a stove top because of the burners and the satin finish this coating has. This product must also be heated to fully cure, and the sides of the stove may not reach the needed temps to cure it. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Gray, not black
Worked well on my gas fireplace. However, the paint drys much more to a gray, rather than black finish.

Let's see what we can figure out Keith. Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint is designed for application to high heat surfaces such as the exterior of wood burning stoves and barbeque grills. This is a heat cured coating, it must be heated to 450°F for one hour to cure properly. This heat curing process will result in the correct black color.

This paint worked great and was just what I needed to re-paint my portable fire-pit. In just a few months, it rusted out from the southern summer humidity! I followed the directions on the can. It was easy to apply and dried fast. It went on even and smooth and as you can see in my pictures, looks really nice. The pit looks almost new again. This was a fantastic inexpensive fix that will get me thru another summer with my fire -pit. I highly recommend it!

Looks new again!! Worked great for my outdoor fire pit. I found this fire pit on the side of the road, presumably because it was all rusted over. I did a quick clean with a wire brush then used this can of spray paint to paint it black. Looks just like new!! Amazing!!

I had an existing brass fireplace screen around my wood burning fireplace and my wife wanted to paint it black. We had looked at options and ended up settling on this. We used some de-glosser first and then painted the screen with this stuff and it covered and worked great. We are very happy with the results.
