Can I apply oil base stain over the glaze after it has dried?

Asked by Jean March 16, 2021
1
Answer

Hi Jean, while the glaze is a water-based acrylic, an oil-based stain may be applied over it once the glaze has fully dried. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Has anyone had an issue with it cracking in the joints and creases? What am I doing wrong?

Asked by NJM March 11, 2021
1
Answer

We appreciate your feedback! Rust-Oleum Transformations Decorative Glaze can pool at creases and joints, so care should be taken to remove any excess glaze. This will provide the best appearance and ensure proper drying. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Can I use this on my kitchen countertops?

Asked by Kay January 19, 2021

Answers

I don't know what type of kitchen countertops you have but I have used this product successfully on wood. You must seal this glaze after applying it. Since it's a countertop, you should apply several coats of sealer.

Can i apply this glaze to my melamine cabinet

Asked by Barb October 24, 2020
1
Answer

Great question, Barb. It is not recommended to apply the Rust-Oleum Transformations Decorative Glaze unless over a water-based painted surface. As the glaze is wiped off with the Decorative Glazing Cloth, some glaze naturally remains in the vertical grooves made by the brush marks from the Transformations Bond Coat or painted surface. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Will this product cover up light blue paint and still make cabinets look like natural wood finish

Asked by Curtylowe October 19, 2020
1
Answer

Happy to clear things up! Rust-Oleum Transformations Decorative Glaze is a semi-transparent product that is applied to previously painted surfaces. This glaze will allow the original paint color to show through and it can be applied in different ways to create a unique appearance. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

We appreciate your interest! At this time, Rust-Oleum Transformations Decorative Glaze is only available in Java Brown. We do not recommend adding tint to this glaze as it can affect the drying and performance. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Can you use this glaze on painted brick

Asked by Fireplace2 August 10, 2020

Answers

I think it will work great on painted brick. It’s very easy to work with, very forgiving. You can make it as light or dark as you want. It wipes away easily. I used it on my off-white kitchen cabinets and I love how they turned out.

How will this color look on light grey finish?

Asked by Mzteach July 3, 2020
1
Answer

Happy to help! Rust-Oleum Transformations Decorative Glaze is only available in Java Brown. The final look will be dependent on how it is applied. We recommend testing in a small area first to get an idea of the final look as the product can be wiped away and removed while it is still wet. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Is this can work with rustic color

Asked by Rina July 1, 2020

Answer

We appreciate your interest, Rina! Currently, Rust-Oleum Transformations Decorative Glaze is only available in Java Brown. It can be applied over any color and there are different application techniques. We recommend testing first to ensure desired look since the glaze can be wiped away while still wet. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Does it have a strong odor? Can I use indoors?

Asked by Dayane June 10, 2020

Answers

I did not have any odors from this product. My grandson lives downstairs from us and was a little nervous it would smell...It did not. I used it indoors on my kitchen cabinets. Plus its cleans up well off skin with soap and water.

Better than expected!
This glaze was so workable. I glazed over matte and satin paint that I used to create a faux wood grain on my table. I painted it in sections with a chip brush and wiped it all off with a microfiber towel. The places that didn’t take as much warmth as I would have liked, I simply took my brush with barely any glaze on it and added some extra glaze. It worked way better than expected after reading some of these reviews. I want to glaze everything now!

I use this product to refinish furniture/doors/cabinets. I learned by using the rust-oleum cabinet transformation kit but have expanded my usage to doors/furniture/cabinets. By using the glaze over two coats of paint, it gives furniture/doors etc. a depth that just painting cannot give. Using cheese cloth to wipe off glaze takes practice but the end product is great. I have probably gone through 10 cans of glaze over the years redoing every cabinet/door in both of my houses. I teach friends how to do this method.

Actually went on the painted surface thicker than I had expected and stayed on well until rubbed/ragged off. I have worked with other products that were difficult to keep enough on a vertical surface in order to get the desired amount of glaze. This product worked great. Allows for a little or as much glaze as one would want to stay on a painted surface. We wanted a heavily glazed finish so we left a lot on. You need to get it ragged off pretty quickly because it does dry quickly. The quick dry is an advantage in the end but it does require that the working area glazed not be too large at one time. Work a small area each time, move on to the next, and the outcome will be perfect! Clean-up was easy.
