AnswersThere are three adjustable shelves and one fixed one in the center. You can put the three adjustable ones anywhere you'd like. All three on top or on the bottom or split between top and bottom sections.

AnswersNo. You have to assemble the whole thing; sides,top, bottom and middle shelf, and nail on the back panel. The two upper and lowest shelf are put in afterwards.

AnswersI contacted the company about additional shelving and it was explained to me as follows. - "This bookcase is designed, engineered, and safety tested with the shelves included in the original packaging. This product is not intended to support additional loads or shelves exceeding what is identified in the instruction book." I can't understand why they would post on here to contact them about it instead of just saying no.

AnswersI can't tell you how many pounds per se, but I really piled on the heavy fabric and there is no bend to the shelves. Feels very sturdy and strong.

These shelves were so cheap and flimsy. The backing comes folded in the box (because it’s just cheap, paperboard) so when you install it you can see white creases running all the way down! The shelves are tall and unstable. Took apart and threw in garbage! DON’T WASTE YOUR$$!!

This product arrived in great condition and I quickly assembled it easily.
However since I plan to use this cabinet for storing gardening supplies,
in my shed, I wanted two additional shelves. Upon finding that shelves
are not available, I obtained two shelves locally and cut them to the
same size and added to the cabinet. I also added thin plywood to the
backside for additional strength.
These shelves adapted well to our project.

This unit it basically sturdy and clean. I was disappointed in the backing which is flimsy cardboard. The finish is thin and susceptible to moisture. I am satisfied with the product, but wish I'd known about the backing before purchase.
