A:Â They are unpainted unprimed eastern white cedar. To me they are tan or light brown. If you want them to last longer you prime them. They turn grey over time if unsealed.

These boards look fantastic on our 115 year old house....
These boards look fantastic on our 115 year old house. We had to replace the cedar shake due to someone years ago painting it and the rot that took place under all the paint. These replaced those original boards and we couldn't be happier. Was a little surprised by the price, but one box did a good amount of coverage so we may not need as much product as we continue the project in the spring. Attached is an image of the final product with staining (to protect it long term and give some color). The original boards are close to a white color you can still see in the far upper right of the second floor.

Very pleased with these cedar shingles.
The brick on my home looked dated so I decided to paint the brick with a slate colored paint and cover a large section with cedar shingles. I also wanted to incorporate a offset pattern rather than straight across mounting. I love the look but note that if you choose to use this type of pattern you will need many more shingles. The section I covered required three boxes of the SBC shingles.

Good Quality
I put a 4 season porch on my existing house and wanted to distinguish it from my steel sided house by using the cedar shakes. It was exactly what I was looking for. Great product.

Great Finishing Touch for our New Wishing Well
My sister and I used these shingles to make a wishing well for our mom's 90th birthday. They really enhanced the overall appearance of the well. They were very easy to install using Liquid Nails and a few well-placed small finishing nails.

Nice Shingles Very Good Quality
I used these shingles to replace 100+ year old side wall shingles on a bow dormer. Very pleased with the shingles. They arrived undamaged in a box inside another shipping box. A bit of an odor due to the applied finish but that is to be expected. Some of the shingles were 11" wide but most were narrower. Still....enough to get the spacing right and the out come was great. I would say that virtually all of the shingles were dead flat with no cupping. There were no knots in the exposed shingle area. Any knots present were very few. Edges were all square and the dents provided on the shingles were sometimes hard to see but did speed up the installation. My client is very pleased!
