Not what I expected. Not what I needed.
I bought one of these a few years back as part of a set from Schmidt Bros, and I ended up selling mine during CoViD lockdown. Why? The acrylic front was already beginning to crack at the corners from the torque of the fastening screws. (Why not use tempered glass? Seriously.) Additionally, while I'm no trained chef (I am a bartender by trade) I tend to cook like a sous at least one night a week. So with all the aerosolized oil in the air, it tended to quickly collect on the surface of the acrylic and the wood, which was a pain to keep clean after only a few months. If you are a light kitchen user, then this block might be for you. But if you regularly cook with a wok or cast-iron, I would definitely consider other knife storage methods. (It did look pretty boss on my countertop, though!) Oh yeah, something to consider: this block does take up some degree of real estate on your counter; if you have a small, galley-style kitchen, you definitely might want to opt for a wall-mounted knife strip.

Great idea, but not properly executed
This Magnetic Knife Block is a great idea. I like seeing the knives, and the clear panels can be taken off to be cleaned. It’s also very convenient to rearrange my knife set and not have to worry about knife size. The downside is the block is too small for my longer knives. My 9” bread knife and 10” chef knife tips hit the bottom and the knives don’t fully seat as their bolster is above the blocks edge.

Schmidt Bros. Is a Cut Above the Rest!
We love the Acacia Downtown Magnetic Knife Block. Our decor is contemporary and the block fits right in! The magnets are strong - our knives feel very secure. Such a sharp, minimalistic look. And the small footprint gives us lots more counter space!
We wanted new acrylic for an older Schmidt Bros. knife block we purchased as well and Paulette in customer service was very helpful and efficient in getting it to us. We felt well taken care and felt that our patronage was valued.

Magnetic knife block
Does the job - very well. Not tall enough for my 9” bread knife so it stands higher than other knives and blade touches the base. The block is magnetic both sides but only one side strong enough to hold knives - Disappointing since I wanted to use both. Aesthetically pleasing and really nice block with a few tweaks required.
