Answer This Question

A:  Hello and thank you for the question. Sievert MAPP gas is Propylene. We cannot confirm that this is the same as Bernzomatics, the labels of each product would need to be compared side by side.

Q:What is % of MAPP gas in bottle??
    by|Apr 25, 2024

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello, thank you for the question. Sievert MAPP gas is 100% Propylene. FYI ~ MAPP gas is the original name from the chemical composition methyl-acetylne-propadiene-propane. However, the chemical composition was highly explosive and in 2008 its production discontinued. The closest substitute to the original MAPP gas was propylene which is being used today by most companies and is promoted under the name MAPP in different extensions. The reason for the lower temperature is because methyl-acetylene is missing in the chemical composition and as stated above, no longer in production.

          Doesn't fit my nozzle
Nowhere does it say that I need a specific nozzle for this. The tank looks almost identical to the one I had previously used and it says MAPP on it so I figured it would work. It does not fit with my bernzomatic push button nozzle so it's no use to me.

            Easy repair of broken pipe
I bought this because I had difficulty with the alternative blue cylinder. Repairing a sprinkler system was challenging (I had zero experience sweating pipe) and it took me a long time to disassemble the existing broken pipe. I decided to try this product and the re-assembly went very quickly. The hotter flame made the job much easier. Just be careful and take precautions like gloves, eye protection, etc. The repair was bid at $450 cost me about $50 in materials.

They claim 4175 temperature but bottle says 3600..
Why are you telling lies on this product description saying it'll get to 4175 F when it says right on the bottles that it only gets to 3600... I don't like being lied to and after using, it's clear to me that this doesn't get to the claimed temperature at all... Super annoyed with this!
