Q:Is the handle 58 inches or 60 inches, like the reviews all say? Or is the overall length 60 inches? Length makes a difference to a tall person.

Q:Will this tool dig up Bahia grass along with the rhizomes? I have tried pulling & digging, digging & pulling, even burning with a propane torch, to no avail. The rhizomes have to come out, & a shovel & some weed pullers just don?t work.

A:  I didn’t have much luck using the “Extreme Weeder”  in fact the few times I used it just removed surface weeds and not their roots  I doubt I’d be able to remove rhizomes. I would get better results with a shovel  Perhaps I’m using the weeder incorrectly but I have tried several different ways with no success . It just takes up room in the garage

A:  This tool is awesome and it will do a LOT, but digging down into the ground more than an inch or two is about it. You would have much better luck with the 'Root Slayer Shovel'. You can find it on a number of sites, including here on Home Depot. It's a bit more expensive than the Skidger, but soooo worth it. I use both tools and between them, they pretty much take care of all those pesky weeds and grasses.

A:  I doubt you would have huge success - however this tools can cut small roots... Rhizomes, however, keep coming back with the underground root system. There are some chemicals that can be used prior to emerging. See internet

A:  For rhizomes I have used a pitchfork looking tool by fiskars that?s heavy and strong. I soak the ground first, then stick the prongs into the ground, stomping it in as I would a shovel. Then press down on the handle with all my weight to pry them up.

A:  Yes, you can sharpen with a file just as you would a hoe or axe. If you are handy with power tools, a grinder or a Dremel tool would be quicker and easier. If neither of these suits you, take it to a lawnmower repair shop and they can do it for you.

A:  The Skidger remains sharp for a long time. You can sharpen it with a file or sharpening stone or diamond stone. It sharpens like a colinear hoe. I find it works better than a colinear hoe or a stirrup hoe.

A:  Haven’t sharpened mine yet, don’t see why you can’t sharpen as long as you are careful use a file and go easy

A:  I been having my tool for a while now and I still don't need to sharpen it. It's a great tool and easy to use.

                        Poorly built! Avoid!
I have a very large area of established weeds to clean out at my mother-in-law‘s property and was excited to have this tool to help with that process. However, within the first hour removing weeds, I hit a rock under the surface with this tool and it immediately broke in half. Either I don’t know my own strength or this is very poorly built indeed. I will be returning for a refund. Avoid buying unless you have very loose soil and nothing to run into

I love gardening as much as the next person if not more. At the same time I hate the weeding definitely more than the next person. That is until I came across the SKIDGER 60 in. L Handle Weeding Tool. With this there will be no more crawling on my knees to get those pesky weeds under the drip lines of bushes, plants and fences. The blade made of sharpened heavy duty steel that easily penetrates the soil and pulls the weeds, while the handle is fiberglass which will never deteriorate over the years like wooden handles. I would say the price is a little above average but will pay for itself over the years. I definitely recommend adding this gardening tool to your collection.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how well this Skidger weeding tool with the 60-in. handle performed in removing weeds. Even though the ground in our area is still hard due to winter I was anxious to try this tool out. It did well in removing some of the winter weeds in our flower beds. (See attached photographs.) I am anxiously awaiting spring to try out the tool's advertised capability to make furrows. This capability should allow me to quickly plant my onion sets. In addition, the handle has two hand grips allowing for a firm grip on the tool without overstressing your hand. Well done Skidger!

My back says thanks for this Skidger! WoW ! I don't have to get "down & dirty" anymore while picking weeds. This thing is amazing - how sharp it is. Not only the point, but the edges on both sides are very sharp. It really is easy - just push and pull it through larger patches of weed; or dig in with the point to get the roots out. The only time I bend over is to pick up the debris. What a life saver! I really love this tool!

I am really digging this weeding tool. It is just like a traditional hoe, but shaped slightly different. It is perfect for plucking weeds in a lawn or hoeing roses of any weeds or blades of grass in a bed. I like the design of it, with the triangle like tip. You can even weed out things in your sidewalk! The handles is a little wonky. It is super light weight, yet does not appear to be hollow plastic. It does not feel like wood from the grip of it. I only make mention of that because I have had similar tools in the past that broke when you apply pressure to the handle (they bend). So far, this pole has not bent whatsoever. I also appreciate the foam grip at the upper one third of the pole. No slippage if you hand is moist for whatever reason. That is great! Overall, this does more than just hoe. It weeds, It plucks. And it gets into very tight places.

Simplicity breeds quality. The simple design of the SKIDGER 60 IN. L HANDLE WEEDING TOOL breeds quality right out of the box. The rubber grips are placed in just the right place. It is winter here but I had the opportunity to give this a test drive. Weeded just perfectly! Dug a small furrow as if I were planting seeds. Performed very well! The handle is long enough and sturdy(fiberglass) to get in to those hard to reach spots in your garden. This will replace most if not all of my gardening tools. Folks with limited movement skills should embrace this garden tool. No kneeling required. I highly recommend this garden tool.

Great product for edging your lawn. Very sharp and precise, makes a perfect cut along a slab. I was not very impressed with the tool to remove weeds in the middle of the yard as it cuts the root pretty short. But it was easy to use while standing so my back appreciated removing weeds again. I am glad I added this tool to my weekend lawn care arsenal of tools!

An amazing garden weeding tool! Lightweight, easy to handle, simple design. Easy to learn to use. With the bow side up it can be used like a hoe or rake - pushing and pulling over an area. That mode works great on shallow spreading type weeds. Also good for raking an area after weeding (or use a small rake to restore dirt/mulch after). Use with the bow side down to pick at deeper roots with pointed end, or for close in work around plants. It's winter here now so sorry the pictures aren't so pretty with everything dormant but it was clear from the weeds I tested it on that it really does work well. This will be my go-to weeding tool!

I really enjoy working in the yard and gardening. The problem is the older I get it becomes more difficult. I have bad knees and while I used to get on my knees to weed it just isn't possible any more. I got the Skidger to help with my yard work and it is a knee saver. It is heavy duty with a fiberglass pole and rubber hand grips. You can use it in places where regular garden tools won't work. If you have gravel the Skidger will work in pulling up your weeds. It is great to use along a fence line or in tight places. This can even be used in the winter to crack up ice or pry up ice on your driveway or sidewalk.
