Will not cut a 90 deg edge on boards
Customer review from skilsaw.com logo
I purchased this saw on 11/27/18. At first I was amazed how powerful it was then after a couple years of use and fighting to get good cuts I finally realized the surface of the table saw is not flat at all. I am so upset with this saw right now I am planning to get rid of it as soon as I can and purchase a Dewalt or something better. I am so depressed with this saw and finding this out now, I know it's been a while but I could have sworn it was flat when I first got it. So either it has warped over the past two years or it was never really flat in the first place. I cannot get a 90 degree cut so it is very discouraging.

Power is incredible, great features!
Customer review from skilsaw.com logo
I bought this saw to finish some projects around the house. Am I glad I did! It cuts through wood like it’s butter! After struggling ripping boards with a circular saw, this is so easy! Great features and love the big wheels! They make moving the saw easy... from the garage...over curbs, sidewalks, in the grass... no problem. Handy storage of all the tools and accessories that come with it too. Very happy with this saw! Made building my backyard swing a dream!

The stand is very poorly manufactured

For starters, I really wrestled over whether to purchase this saw or the Bosch jobsite equivalent, but it really boiled down to the design of the collapsing stand, as well as the size of the overall table area. I am always a bit wary of Skilsaw products, but this seemed to have a lot of good feedback across the internet so I pulled the trigger. The stand obviously needed to be assembled by the consumer and Skilsaw wins no awards for ease of directions here. The illustrations are very small and hard to understand, and given the number of parts in the stand it is definitely important to read the instructions. It took me a couple wrong turns before figuring out the correct assembly, but once I had it all together I realized that two of the bars were so closely aligned that the ends of the bolts collided with them when collapsing or opening the stand. This collision was quite significant, to the point that the bolts gauged the bars and the frame had to be forcefully wrenched to open or close. I tried backing them out a little, but then the locking mechanism was put out of alignment. I looked through the reviews I could find on the saw to see if this was a common issue, but couldn't find anything that seemed like the same experience I was having, which led me to believe that there may have been an error with the manufacturing of my stand in particular. I reached out to Skilsaw and asked if they could simply replace my stand rather than the whole saw, as the saw itself worked fine and I hate to be so wasteful as to return it all in a condition that it cannot be easily resold, but Skilsaw said they could not replace the stand alone. I ended up returning everything and ordering the Bosch just to avoid having to go through the whole situation over again. It's definitely frustrating that big companies like Skilsaw get to the point where they'd rather eat the cost of a $600+ unit than replace a simple frame which can be sold separately anyway, but that's where we're at. Definitely wasted my time and energy.

Outstanding product. Assembly was easier than I expected. I laid the box on the garage floor, opened and flattened the cardboard, and assembled it without moving the saw itself. The saw body was already upside down, in the correct orientation for assembly. Absolute positives about the saw are the large-diameter wheels, the rack and pinion gate, and the flawless worm drive. The factory presets were all spot on, and there were no adjustments necessary. My first test piece was an oak board, and I was able to rip off a piece about 1/32 inch thick, consistent for the entire 10 inches of the rip (I used an after-market finishing blade). After reading the manual, I'm certain that when adjustments are necessary, they will be a non-event. Everything on this saw is well thought out. One thing I thought might be a negative turned out not to be: the riving blade come factory installed at its highest setting. I thought that it was the only option, and at that height it would have been in the way of many after-market specialty tools including a cross-cut sled. But after reading the manual more thoroughly, I discovered that the riving blade can be moved down, so low in fact, that it is below the table top level, meaning you can have a flat table top when you lower the blade all the way (see photo). The bevel guide is perhaps the only chincy piece on the whole saw. It seems a bit loose in the bevel groove, and will necessitate a longer board to act as a gate for use with longer cross-cuts. But it does have pre-manufactured drill holes for such an add-on like this (see photo). I have not problem giving this saw a perfect 5 stars, nor recommending it.

The saw is absolutely usable for general construction right out of the box! You can take it out, set it on a bench, and get to work! It is that well aligned straight from the factory. Of course, if you want to use the really good rolling stand it comes with, you'll spend anywhere from 30 minutes to 45 minutes putting that all together...which is what I did. I also made a couple of cuts BEFORE checking various alignment points. Those cuts were accurate "enough" for framing type construction. However, I want an ACCURATE saw! So, I checked all the alignments! The rip fence was about 1/32 of an inch off so, I fixed that...very easy to do once you figure out which screws the instructions are referring to. Skil even supplies the 5mm hex wrench for it. Next, I checked the 90 degree and 45 degree stops for the blade angle...they were absolutely perfect already! Lastly, and with a bit of dread, I checked to see how well the blade was aligned to the miter slots...it was off about 1/32 of an inch also. To realign that, you have to loosen the four mounting bolts that mount the saw to the table and do whatever twisting and turning of the motor is needed then tighten every thing back up, a little at a time while rechecking over and over again. The same 5mm hex wrench works on those but they are TIGHT from the factory and you have to reef on them pretty significantly. Also, you're not going to move the motor more than a few thousandths of an inch in any one direction! Basically, however oversize they machined the through holes for the mounting bolts determines how much movement you'll get! I managed to get it dead on but just barely. If I had this to do over again, this is the FIRST adjustment I would make because I had to go back and readjust the rip fence after this. The bottom line is that I now have a well aligned and accurate little table saw!Yes, it takes some time and careful checking to get things really well adjusted and stable. That is true with ANY table saw you buy! This one is easy enough to work on...other saws are more difficult.

Great saw with loads of power. Running off of a 20amp breaker I have not had it blow the breaker once nor have I had it stop running when pushing hardwoods through it. Previously I was using a 2hp General International 10" contractors saw and this has more cutting power than that one. I love the mobility with the base as well. My only complaint is to fold it up you have to do that from the other side of where the handle is located. That means you roll it into the area to store it and then have to go to the other side to collapse it back onto the handles. If the engineers could reverse this and put the pedal to activate the folding mechanism on the same side as the handles that would make everything a lot easier. One more thing, I second the complaints about the assembly manual. Very poor job illustrating the assembly. There are no good Youtube videos either.

I own this saw now for about 6 month and honestly I have not found a thing I do not like about this saw. Quick and easy assemble after arrival and every part was securely packed up. I ran various materials thru the saw, from ripping 2by's to multiple sheets of ply on the job. This saw does not stop or slow down whatever you "throw" in its pass, even when pushing it hard. I am very pleased about the dust chute and the genius elbow to bucket idea. It works perfectly even on windy days on the job site. Something so simple makes a huge difference. The blade compartment is sealed off pretty good, so most of the saw dust flies into the bucket or sucked up by a vacuum/dust extractor when used. I found out that the big wheels on the stand really come in handy when rolling over rough terrain on the job site, in and out of the truck, and sometimes even stairs. Quick and easy access/ storage of the push stick. Pretty much all accessories are nicely stored in the base of the saw. I had to fix the factory alignment of the fence, but don't you have to do that with most saws?! The saw has a very small footprint when stored (upright position) compare to my other saws which I own and owned before. Smooth and quality rack and pinion fence system. Overall, I am very pleased with the saw, it is powerful and precise. I would definitely recommend this saw to anyone.

Design defect: It's just not square! It can't be straightened. When I received this saw I used it a fair bit ripping boards and it worked just fine. Then I got a nice mitre gauge that I attached to the table and I noticed my fence wasn't straight. I straightened the fence relative to the table, and I noticed the blade wasn't straight either! Whoever assembled the saw in the factory looks like they adjusted the fence to compensate for the out of whack blade angle. So I crack open the manual and read the instructions for adjusting the blade angle. You should be able to loosen 4 bolts and turn the saw, then tighten em down again. I did that for about 6 hours, every time I tighten it down it's right back where it was. I called support. I explained the situation.. he advised me to try again, leaving one bolt tighter as a pivot point. That didn't work. I crawled under the saw to look at these bolts.. They're 6mm shafts in 7mm ROUND holes. There's not enough room for anything to move under there to appreciably adjust the blade angle. The manual is just plain wrong. I called support again, and he thought that those should be slotted holes, and maybe my saw was put together wrong. He advised me to return it to Home Depot, so I did. The replacement saw is in the same state. Fence is skewed to match blade angle, neither square with the table they're attached to. Bolts are in round, non-adjustable holes. I called support again, told them what I found, and they said they'd forward my problem to the product manager on the saw. So now I'm left with either returning this saw, Or really owning this beast and machining slots into those round holes. I really like this saw in all other respects though, and haven't found any others that I like as much.. TL;DR: These saws have a design defect that makes them not square. I saw it on 2 saws from Home Depot. SkilSaw has no fix.

The worm drive gives a great, powerful and quiet saw. I checked adjustment after opening and it needed no adjustment to get started to achieve smooth even and square cuts. I added a box for my grippers and other push sticks in the handle area, photo attached.
