Does this place sell replacement parts for the warm drive saw like hinge pin for the saw

Asked by Youngsta November 25, 2020

Answer

"This Place" DOES sell the most needed parts... But be careful with this saw, your choice of words denotes laziness, this saw will rip apart if your not careful... I've been using these saws, and with others using these saws, for 45 years, and in the last 20, I've seen alot of people that speak like you lose fingers, meat and skin... For example DO NOT TRUST the Blade Guard to keep the blade from ripping your thigh open when you drop it down on your leg between cuts!!! Between Cuts, You set the saw down, blade away from your body and close to the ground, It's a simple turn of the wrist like starting your truck... NEVER give that blade a chance to get you... The guard is manual and can get stuck with SAW DUST buildup... Be safe YoungSta, don't let your blood fly, and FLY it does!!!

the part that holds the blade on what is thatpart

Hi there. I am not exactly sure just which parts you are looking for. There are internal, (1619X01249) and external, (1619X02969) clamping washers along with the retaining bolt, (2610000050). While Home Depot does not carry replacement parts, there are numerous other sources. If you change the blade to a diamond blade, will this cut concrete?

Asked by ed September 22, 2020

I've cut many a slab using a diamond blade on my Skilsaws... BUT the concrete dust is hard on the saw.. Not to mention hard on your lungs, blah blah blah... Wear a respirator and glasses, wash up, especially your eyes and head IMMEDIATELY after cutting... Use multiple depth passes, Dry Cut Only... You can wash down between passes, and cut while damp, but, but, but... SkilSaw makes an actual concrete cutting version, if you think you might be doing that alot... If I had any clue decades ago, and if they made them back then, I would have owned the concrete version also...

I am looking to get a worm saw and I am debating on this one or the SKILSAW SPT70WM-01 15 Amp 10-...

10 1/4 blades are expensive, and being Macho with a SkilSaw will get you hurt... Buy the saw that suits your cutting purpose, SkilSaw makes alot of differing Saws so you can do just that... Lighter is better, smaller is better, but the saw has to meet the need, not the ego...

How does it perform, running a diablo metal blade in particular cutting 3/8” or 10mm steel plate?...

Asked by TheOutdoorsman April 7, 2020

Diablo makes good blades, and I don't know a "mm" from a mouse, But my SkilSaws have cut a ton of steel of various types, from rebar to steel plate to aluminum and thin plate... There is virtually nothing the SkilSaw can't cut with the right blade... Do be aware what is being spewed into your breathing and mucus space... wear a respirator and wash your head and eyes immediately after cutting, fine dust or chemical producing products... stuff in your eyebrows can work it's way into your eyes, and metal dust in your eyes is a bad deal...

Will it be on sale for Black Friday??

Asked by November 28, 2019

Answer

Unless you are a Hardcore Construction Worker, it doesn't matter... Today, the Battery Powered saws are all you need and they make them in the 7 1/4" size so they cut everything the skilsaw does WITHOUT the hassle of rolling out, and up, a cord... Trust me, I've been a SkilSaw user for over 40 years, and it took me a long time to warm up to battery power... I've been using Ryobi tools since the beginning, not by choice but by necessity at first... NOW, forget about ever plugging anything in except the charger... My Pre-Black Friday Saw was the Ryobi Battery powered 7 1/4... I already enclosed a garage ceiling area to create storage using NO corded tools, just Ryobi Battery tools... IT WAS AWESOME... DO take advantage of the Two for One 7 1/4" Diablo blades... at $10 each blades are expensive, at 2 for $10... you have a deal... If you see my other SkilSaw posts, you'll KNOW how I support this tool...

Will this cut concerte

Asked by George August 19, 2019

Answers

Yes, with a diamond blade, dry type, it definitely cuts concrete... Wear a dust mask and safety glasses... it creates a ton of dust because it's dry cutting... DO NOT GET IT WET!!! When you are done, you need to blow the dust out of the ports, nooks and crannies, AND take it apart and clean out the inside of the top guard where concrete dust will compact, negatively affecting the ability for the sliding guard to keep you safe... When cutting concrete slabs, be sure to cut them into small enough pieces that you can lift them without hurting yourself... FYI, while cutting the concrete, the saw /blade will also cut the rebar inside

excellent
I got this as a birthday/X-mas gift from my parents and i have to say its an excellent saw. Very power. Only reason it didnt get a 5 star is its weight. To me its a bit heavy for the average dyi’er but i unserstand why the weight. 2 hand grip makes for steady cuts and hood control of the saw.

A Great High-Quality Circular Saw

I bought this saw to demolish my old deck. It did it in a day! It is really built well. There's not a single part on it that seems cheap! Adjusting or changing the blade is even easy.

Skilsaw wormdrive for the win!
Customer review from skilsaw.com logo
For a while Iv had a second hand skilsaw 77 50th anniversary edition gold. It’s 30+ years old and still runs like new. But the weight is crazy. So I decided it was time for a upgrade and got the spt77wml-22 and holy what a difference. The saw is so light and had so much more power! The rafter hook is a great feature also. As soon as I took it out of the box I checked for oil and to see how true it was set up (hearing that some people got them and they weren’t setup) but everything was ready to go! Put the blade on and went right to work! Now the old saw will be for around home and the new one goes everywhere with me. Great saw and can tell I’ll have it for years! Now to decide on my next skilsaw purchase!

This is a great skil saw! I'm have had this saw for less a month.I'm a wood framing carpenter by trade and use my saw frequently. Tightening and blade tool on the saw is nice! It's light weight and cuts true. "Don't just use your tools maximize your tools" I'm very satisfied with this product!

I took a long hard look at this saw before buying it. Was it worth the extra money & weight? Shor...
I took a long hard look at this saw before buying it. Was it worth the extra money & weight? Short answer: Definitely. I decided on going with this as my first worm drive saw for a few reasons. First of all, the blade is on the left hand side. This makes sight alignment much easier for me as a righty. I find myself still looking over the saw at first, but I'll get used to it. The inline body layout was also a big reason to go for it. Yes, it's heavier. However, that weight is very well proportioned with the body lay out, and is much easier to get through 3/4 sheet goods once it gets going. And that's my main use. Besides, it's way lighter than most every other worm drive out there. I may have elected to go for a sidewinder if I was framing, but most of my use is for breaking down plywood. Plus, when the factory blade is a Diablo, that's a guaranteed hook that I won't be getting it from Amazon or Lowe's. Great job on that HD. Speaking of hooks, the integrated rafter hook is strong and I have no qualms with it whatsoever. The blade, lighter weight, and build quality/history are why I chose it over the Makita, Rigid, and DeWalt. I can keep going, but this is getting sort of long. So why not a 5 star rating? There's no place that I can attach an edge guide to. I was really excited about using Kreg's Rip-Cut, but the baseplate is too narrow and the Kreg doesn't have a place to clamp to. I talked to Kreg and they said that it was a common problem with worm drives, but they're working on a solution. With that being said though, it doesn't look like there's any place to attach any kind of edge guide by Skil or Kreg or anyone else. It's not the end of the world, but I can't give it a perfect rating. Also, know what you're getting into. Some maintenance will be involved. Make sure to get some oil for the gears, and don't forget to use it. That's not really a negative, but some people may not know that you have to do that. End of the day.... Should you buy one? SkilSaw quality. Diablo blade. Worm Drive features.... No, you should buy two. 4.5 stars -Jeff

Magnesium equals lighter, I'm a fan!
Customer review from skilsaw.com logo
I’ve used worm drive saws before, so opening the box to the 7 ¼” Lightweight Magnesium Worm Drive, upon first inspection didn’t see anything spectacular. When I lifted it out of the box I could tell it was built lighter than my Makita. The Diablo 24-tooth saw blade came with the saw but needed to be installed, no big deal, the wrench for the Skilsaw was conveniently located at the rear of the frame. Skil seems to store many of their wrenches intuitively in their saws which makes it easier to locate as opposed to the 43 other handtools I have and need to search for the proper wrench. The saw was full of oil as the manual indicated and I was ready to get to work. I was re-building my deck when I received this (actually tearing the old one down and re-building it) so I was ready to put this saw to the test. I cut out the old deck and went to framing and sawing, noticing the power of this saw and the torque when it fires up. It is about 3.5 pounds lighter than my other saw, well-built solid and even has a tool hanging attachment. For the next two weeks, I did everything with this saw including cutting 7 stringers, framing joists, and even occasionally cutting Trex Composite Decking. A very durable and reliable saw when cutting bevels and even handling single handed, when necessary.
