Southern Living Orange Rocket Barberry is an award-winning barberry that sports a unique color combination. Each Spring new foliage starts out a vibrant coral-orange that fades to purple and then green in the Summer. Once Fall comes around, the deciduous leaves of this barberry turn a vibrant ruby red. Lastly, this barberry has small spiny branches protruding from each leaf cluster that look like thorns. These little spines produce crimson red berries in the Fall, which birds enjoy. This barberry is drought tolerant and has superb disease resistance. Southern Living Orange Rocket is known for its columnar habit, growing 2-3 feet wide by 4-5 feet tall, making it perfect as a compact vertical element in mixed gardens or in containers. Or plant it as a specimen among other plants, and watch this Southern Living Orange Rocket's foliage dazzle in your landscape.
  • Composed of coral-orange new growth that turns green in the summer and ruby red in the fall
  • Once established, this fast growing plant proves itself to be quite hardy in USDA zones 5-9. After losing foliage in the winter new foliage will emerge in the spring.

  • During the first growing season water 2-3 times allowing the roots to be deeply established. After establishment the Orange rocket barberry needs very little supplementary watering.

Very good choice for color in the garden!
These arrived in great condition and packaged extremely well! After recent disasters with other plant shipments it was a relief. They are large enough to plant directly into the garden and survive without having to grow them on first which saves a step. Lastly, great price point! Highly recommend.

            Great Purchase.
Nicely packaged. Soil was moist. Leaves were intact and pliable. I didn’t open the package for several days and it was perfectly fine. This review was written 3 weeks after planting and it’s doing fine.

Prime Housing Location for Deer Ticks
Despite the different varieties of Barberry, all varieties of barberry harbor deer ticks that specifically carry Lyme disease. There are higher densities of deer ticks carrying Lyme disease in all Barberry varieties than in other habitats. Whether flowering Barberry or not, there are jaggers all over these bushes and I have no clue why these are still in existence. The bush bottoms are a breeding ground for a disease that is 100% not treatable with a 30 day course of a doxycycline antibiotic.

The plant looked okay when I received it. However, it is not growing afterwards and seems dying. I transferred it to a bigger planter pot with addition of new soils and water it twice a week. All the leaves are drying somehow. I got a different plant from the same vendor. I did the same thing, and the other plant is growing fine.

It arrived with most of it's leaves missing. It was also very dry and shriveled up. I planted it anyways and I'm hoping that it will come back to life.

Got it in bad n dry condition
Received on time . But got it in very dry condition. It’s roots were completely dry n pale . Still wanted to give it a try so planted it in sun , water it regularly but now it’s condition is very bad . So within 3 days it almost dead. I don’t know weather it will survive or not . I am very sad

Purchased ~$300 worth of plants from Home Depot, including this one which was over $30.00 It is the only one out of the 16 or so that have been planted that died -- it died almost immediately. For $30+ it is definitely a disappointment.
