Product Overview

SQUARE FOOT Model SF22 Plastic Footing Form 22 in. x 16-1/2 in. x 22 in. used in conjunction with 8 in. and 10 in. concrete forming tubes. Depending on your project size will determine what size of column should be used in conjunction with our footing. Footing Forms provide greater concrete-bearing capacity and footprint to ensure the safety, strength and stability of your project. The excavation and placement of footing combined with column, backfilling and concrete pouring all in one day. The four parallel footing sidewalls easily facilitate the use of rebar without custom fabrication. Four structural points of contact to the ground make leveling easier. What was once a 3-day process being can now be completed in hours. Our unique square design provides the strongest footing by distributing loads over a larger footprint, providing for future product design, such as conversion of a deck to a sunroom or addition. In areas with frost, a 6 in. minimum footing thickness produces a thicker footing which greatly reduces uplift and lateral movement caused by frost heave. Reduces swelling in areas with expansive soil conditions such as clay, sand, silt and other soils. The SF22 uses 2 cu. ft. of concrete, equivalent to 3 lb. to 80 lb. bags easily found in the same concrete department. SQUARE FOOT conforms to all international and national building code requirements.
  • SQUARE FOOT is the perfect combination of toughness and stiffness, made from polypropylene
  • Our square design provides greater structural integrity with 4 points of contact to the ground, which makes it easier to level
  • SQUARE FOOT footings provides a strong enough foundation to allow for future flexibility to expand a deck to a sunroom or living area
  • Our user friendly wedge system on all three products fits all 8 in. to 18 in. construction forming tubes forming one continuous concrete pour for the footing and column form
  • No concrete forms to build disposable footing, can be left in ground after placement, enabling excavation, backfill and pouring of concrete in 1 day
  • SF22 is 3.5 lbs. which can be nested when buying multiple units which provides for easy shipping and transportation
  • Resists frost and uplift from high velocity winds minimum 6 in. base thickness reduces lateral movement caused by frost or poor soil conditions
  • Each unit can support anywhere from 3,320 lbs. to a maximum bearing capacity of 40,200 lbs. depending on soil types
  • Meets and exceeds all national building code requirements in North America, SQUARE FOOT has met requirements of the IAS accreditation criteria for testing laboratories (AC89)

It is supposed to be used one time and buried. One could possibly reuse it by coating the inside with a release agent. I have done this, so I don't if you would be successful

I did a partial backfill just to keep the form on the ground. At first I did not do this and the weight of the wet concrete going in and pushing on the plastic sides kind of lifted the form off the ground about 1/2". Threw off my level a little.

It is sized to accept an 8” concrete forming tube. It can be cut back at the lower index line to accept a 10” tube if needed.

What is the measurement on the small end opening?

The best answer I can provide (as a consumer) is that the opening will accept either a 8" or 10" tube form - so I assume it is just smaller than 8 inches.

However many you order - they aren't pre-packaged. I ordered 8 - it is great to invert one and place it on the sonotube as a funnel.

Sometimes tubes vary in diameter to allow for nesting, but it should still allow plenty of connection with the tube. I don't have the exact measurement as I don't use 8" tubes.

My local code calls for a 22"x22" squarefoot form with a 12" tube. The description says this sup...

Nope. It's not going to work for you. The tube needs to fit tight around the neck of the form.

Yes I would recommend.. But I originally went in to home depot to buy a leaf funnel to help me with yard work and the disposal of leaves into a leaf bag. I asked an associate for help and this Plastic Concrete Footing Form is what I got instead.. I didn't think it was not the correct item and purchased it. When I got home and tried to use what I thought was the leaf funnel and I couldn't get it to work I finally read the sticker on the side and saw what this was really intended for well for 1 I felt dumb lol and 2 I couldn't return it due to it being a windy day and the receipt blowing away.. But I'm sure it would have worked beautifully it I had needed it for the purpose it was intended for . Moral to this is make sure you your self know exactly what you're buying and read the sticker before you purchase anything even if associate with in the store help you lol.. LESSON LEARNED.....

These footing forms are awesome. I used them before in my crawlspace to support a crossbeam under my large kitchen island that has a very heavy granite top. My current project is a deck with eight of these. In prior projects, I have used concrete block. I must say that these Square Foot forms are much better to use than block because they distribute the loads much better and are very easy to level prior to pouring the concrete. Use these instead of block and you'll be happy you did!!

Straightforward product. Plastic is good thickness and holds up under dirt while waiting to pour concrete. I would highly recommend, it’s a good time saver. I tend to not use wood posts, but set the concrete and beams bracket exactly where I need it. Basically dig the hole, pack in 5/8- gravel, place form in hole, fill around with more gravel 1/2 up the form. I then rough cut the form tube, then level Mark it, take it off the form and cut then place back on the form and screw it on.
