Mobile Task Light - 1200 Lumens Portable/Rechargeable Light

There are a lot of uses for a shop light like this but the main use for me is for doing vehicle repair. I have always used the halogen type lights to do work under a car. There are a lot of issues with that type of light. They are extremely hot and you have to have an extension cord and outlet. This light solves both of those problems. Since it is LED it does not get hot at all and since it is powered by a lithium ion battery you don't have to have a extension cord or be in a location with power. It provides nice even illumination and can be repositioned without worrying about a cord getting in the way. I think that it would also be very handy during a power failure. You could set it up in a kitchen and it would provide plenty of light to cook by.

A convenient task light for illuminating small light-duty jobs. It is rechargeable (Lithium batteries) using a USB connection (cable included). It has an interesting design that looks like it belongs on a SciFi space probe or a Mars lander. It delivers 1200 lumens of light and is quite bright. The adjustable lens (slides up/down) provides for spot light focus or a flood light focus. It has a stand that can also be hung from a hook or nail It also has a recessed nut on the bottom so that you can attach it to a tripod (i.e. like a camera tripod). Since it is an LED light, it does not generate a lot of heat like many of the halogen shop lights that you commonly see. It has a three brightness levels and a flashing/strobe mode (which could be used as a hazard light). Mine ran for a little over one hour on high brightness before needing to be recharged (long enough for small to medium tasks). The dimensions (3.3in W X 5.9in L X 4in H) make it small enough to fit in a medium to large tool box. The one feature I don't not like about this light is the goofy on-off-dimmer switch. It has a red, soft rubber membrane that deforms around the momentary contact switch when depressed. Pressing the switch cycles through on/full-bright, medium-bright, low-bright, then flashing. To turn it off you have to press & hold the switch for about 2 seconds. The rubber membrane interferes with finding/pressing the switch button. Its kind of a clumsy mechanism. It seems that the switch is somewhat fragile and will probably be the first thing to break/wear out on this light. I could see this task light being used for small tasks like working on electronics (soldering, computer hardware work), model building, detailed woodwork, crafts, etc. I don't think it would hold up very well getting knocked around on heavy duty jobs. I give it low marks for the price point which is kind of high ($49.99). If I had to guess just by looking at it, I would have estimated $10-$15 less.

Striker has thought of everything for this light! This is the perfect mobile light for you to take around when doing your home improvement projects, or working on your car. This light is bright! 1200 lumens! It features 3 different brightness modes (high, medium, low) or a bright strobe setting which, I would imagine, would be quite useful if you found yourself stranded and in trouble. The light's frame is made of steel and is so well designed that it will not tip over. Plus you can hang the light on a nail from either end or even mount it on a tripod! The light itself is mounted on a rotating (up/down a full 180 degrees) head (see photos) and you can even raise or lower the light lens on the head. When doing so, it sets the focus of the light beam to wide flood mode or focus-flood mode. The light features a memory so that when you power it off (by pressing the power button for a few seconds), the next time you power it back on, it will return to the same brightness (or strobe) setting as before. You can charge this light via the provided USB cable. However, be very careful that you do not charge this directly into an AC outlet. The charging source needs to be 2 amps or less. I think it is for that reason that Striker does not include a USB-Outlet adapter plug. Instead, you can plug it into a computer or other device, or a wall USB charger. A super nice feature is when you power off the light, the red power button blinks to tell you how much charge is remaining (1 = <25%; 2=25-50%; 3=50-75%; and 4=75-100%). The light is shipped charged which was nice so I didn't have to wait to charge it before I could use it. Unlike other devices, this light will give you full brightness (in accordance with the your selected brightness level) up until the second the battery runs out. This is in contrast to other lights that get dimmer and dimmer as the battery runs out. The light features 2 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The light is rated at 50,000 hours of life and is a daylight white color LED. I have already used this light on my first project in which I was installing a light fixture. It sure was nice to have this light illuminating the entire work area versus the small flashlight I was using that had a very limited field of light. This light will definitely come in handy.

I had a chance to use this for a couple weeks while working on my Sailboat. The size was perfect for a small area where its hard to fit anything into. However, for the price, it doesn't hold a charge for as long as I thought it would, and it seems the time to charge takes awhile...I may return it..

Wow! This light is BRIGHT. I took it out of the box, pushed the button and BOOM; very intense bright white light. Charges via USB cable and charged very quickly to full. LED so stays cool to the touch and no bulbs to change. The frame is sturdy steel; I could use this anywhere and it would do well. Its adjustable in both light intensity (also has a strobe if you like that sort of thing) and angle so that the light can be focused where you need it. I can use it in the garage, keep it in the car for nighttime emergencies, in the home during power outages, outside on the patio, or any spaces where I need hands-free light. This is going to sound corny but this is the BEST portable light source is have ever found.

cool looking light, but poor quality on switch. I purchased one, switch broke so I returned it for another one. switch on second one just broke.
