If the styro board is scratched lightly with a wire brush, sticky mesh applied and make sure any dried/splashed dirt is removed, it works well as a system.
Maybe in lieu of using a Mason brush to texture the second coat, but I would think that the roller would develop issues of raising the second coat onto the roller. This cannot be applied by roller.
Make sure to remove any loose coating. Apply the mess over the entire area to be coated and that should stabilize any underlying problems
I agree that extending the finish 3-4" below grade will keep moisture issues at a minimum and look better.
Over the entire surface and make sure to lightly rouphn up the rigid foam with a wire brush before applying the mesh.
It stays a little pliable after it sets, so I'm going to say no.
The color when dried is a little darker than what I would label as concrete or poured concrete grey. I just used two coats of Thompsons Waterseal as I don't want to go back in 8 years and have to repaint.
Hello MrP, You can add a little bit of liquid colorant to the Tuff II to change the color. Add 1 once at a time until you get to the color you desire, but do not add more than 10 ounces as it can compromise the product. Tuff II, however, is not designed for floors or other surfaces that you walk on, it is only meant for walls or other vertical surfaces.
I don't believe that anything should be added to thicken the product. The consistency for troweling on a vertical surface is perfect. I applied two coats to a cement block wall. The first coat went on with minimal waste of product. The finish coat adhered immediately and still gave a sufficient amount of time to texture. If the surface is at a different angle and you need a thicker product, you could allow a few minutes for the product to set before applying the first coat. It was the easy product I have ever used to create or repair a stucco surface.
Yes, unless the paint is peeling or glossy it should work fine.
