Questions & Answers

Product works sometimes, what could be wrong?

Asked by: Harry
Friday, 3/16/2018. Just installed mine in Youngstown, Ohio. 31F, yea it's cold. Mine works fine but the iffy part is the two wires you strip and put in the 'green' area using a flat head screw driver to open the two ports and slip the wires into those ports. They are a little bit of a bear to make sure they are secure. I ended up putting my wires into the port before mounting the control unit; that way I could verify they would not pull out, then mounted the control unit on the motor housing bracket. If they are not secure, the vibration of the door could make any one of those wires not make a connection inside the port. This is the only part of this product that needs improvement. I would have had the wires screw into a supplied plug, and then insert that plug into the control unit.

will it stop them if they have a garage door decoder?

Some thieves are using decoders to open garage doors. Will the lock stay locked or will it unlock if they use a decoder? Thank you.
Asked by: abby
Not at all. This lock will still open if the garage door is activated by any mean.

Customer Reviews

Automated Garage Door Lock is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! Very reasonably priced. Easy to install with only a few tools and basic "handyman" knowledge. Directions are written quite well and easy to follow. The manufacturer's sales/support team are responsive. My order had a defective transformer when I received it. After talking with customer support (6PM), they overnighted a replacement to me the next day. The lock has ran perfectly with no issues whatsoever. I'd buy another one if I had another garage door.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as described It's a good substitute for the locking bar that usually comes with a garage door. Locks the garage door when it is in the closed position so you do not have to get out of the car and manually lock/unlock the garage door lock bar. It's efficient and a good idea. I'm not handy in any sense of the word. But I resolved to take my time and do one step at a time. A little confusing and difficult folowing the instruction booklet because my booklet started on Page 5 went through to 7, began page 1 and finished with 9 jumping back to 4. Follow the youtube video. It makes a bit more sense. Also, when attaching the lock bar through the whole in the garage door rail you just made, it's not entirely clear from the instructions how it's supposed to connect, . It's almost as if the instructions expect you to know how to connect the lock bar with the SureLock intuitively. The wires coming off the SureLock assembly wire in to a sensor mounted to the garage door opener motor.. It took quite a bit of brute force to push open the receptacles where the wires fit in. The power adapter that plugs into where your garage door opener is plugged into requires a screw in the middle of the outlet plate. My plug did not have that. It's closer to a GFI style, so the screws are at each end of the plate, not in the middle. I was not able to add the extra support that screw provides and had to use some wires coming out of the door opener from the ceiling and the mount frame to help support the power supplyr. Additionally, I left the original amount of wire length from the lock to the sensor unit and just used a tie wrap too keep it looped together. I could never strip a wire to the length I want to save my life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Waste Your Money On This After only a month the lock would periodically stop automatically setting. Less than six months after purchasing it, the automatic lock fails to set 90% of the time. I have to lock it manually which defeats the purpose of purchasing this piece of junk.
