A:  Hi Carol Carpet Shield is not recommended for Upholstered furniture. Carpet should is a temporary 30 day solution for synthetic carpet only. We are happy you checked with us first! Thank you!

    by|Oct 11, 2022

A:  I wouldn’t do it. It will leave a sticky residue if you leave it on for an extended period of time. Works good for its intended use however.

        Answer This Question

A:  Easy Application Steps for Carpet Shield® Remove over wrap from the product and locate the start of the film. Pull film off the roll slightly to determine the direction the film unwinds. Place film sticky side down on the carpeting, secure start of the roll by applying slight pressure and then push roll in the desired direction. Apply slight pressure over the top of the film as you roll out to the desired length and cut with a utility knife or sharp edge. To remove simply lift film up at an edge, pull off and discard. Before using, the purchaser and/or user must determine suitability of this product for the intended use and the purchaser and/or user assumes all risks and liabilities is connection therewith. Because there are so many variations in carpet fibers and products used to prevent carpets from staining, it is imperative that the user of this product determine suitability. To determine suitability test Carpet Shield® on a small portion of carpet that is in a non-exposed area. Leave Carpet Shield® in place for at least 48 hours and then inspect to ensure there was no disturbance to the carpet fibers. Use only on completely dry carpeting. If carpeting was recently cleaned allow for at least 48 hours for carpeting to dry and cleaning agents to dissipate For any newly installed carpeting do not use Carpet Shield® for at least 72 hours to allow adhesive vapors to dissipate completely through the padding and the carpet If subjected to extreme conditions of temperatures exceeding 95o F, direct sunlight, heavy foot traffic or outdoor exposure, it is recommended Carpet Shield® film be inspected and replaced with new material more frequently and as needed Do not use in extreme humidity conditions or high moisture areas like basements Use on synthetic fibers only. NOT for use on oriental carpets or wool carpeting Carpet Shield® is for temporary protection up to 30 days, REMOVE ON 30TH DAY or sooner

A:  It did not leave a sticky residue to the carpet, but if it did on wood after leaving for more than a few days.

          by|Sep 15, 2022

A:  Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry to hear that! Our Carpet Shield has a Water-Based adhesive. We recommend using a citrus-based soap pretreatment with a HOT water extraction to remove any residue. Please make sure it is not STEAM, but a HOT water extraction.

                Doesn't stick to nylon carpet
Very disappointed in this product. Did not stick at all to my nylon carpet. I don't remember reading that anywhere on the description that it would not stick to nylon.. I had to use duct tape to hold it down.

Tough plastic sheet with adhesive backing
Did not use for carpet. Used to line the inside of a palram canopia raised greenhouse to protect the metal surrounding the plastic tray from the topsoil rusting the metal.. This was the only plastic with an adhesive side. Every product has multiple uses. Just have to use your imagination.

                    Poor Product
Being in the remodeling trade I have used a lot of similar products. This one is not worth the cost or time to fight it. It simply won't stay down. Even after walking all over it to try to get it to adhere, still comes up. Photo is after 5 minutes of taking it down for the fourth time.

Do not purchase - it will permanently ruine your carpet!!!
We are doing a remodel and wanted to protect our off white very plush carpet. When we pulled it up - very carefully - it removed carpet strands and left a very tacky film. We had a professional carpet cleaner come the very next day but they said they probably could not remove the sticky substance as they have had others call for this same issue and didn't help. Our carpet is now completely ruined!!!!

                        DOES NOT COME OFF!!
We thought this was a great idea to protect our carpets during a remodel, but everywhere it was walked on is sticking to the carpet, pulling the carpet up as we’re trying to get it off, and ripping off in teeny tiny pieces. You can not use this on a soft, plush carpet even if it is a short nap. Will probably need to rip out $4000 worth of carpet and replace or put in hardwood. If I could give this zero stars I would

I put this product down on my stairs and upstairs carpeted hallway and it has permanently damaged what was new carpet. Even after professional cleaning by a reputable carpet cleaning company, there is a clear pathway where the sticky substance underneath the "protector" went deep into the carpet fibers and can't come out. I am looking at having to replace expensive carpeting which was only 1 year old! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!

I used this product for an unconventional application. I took in a foster dog that was not potty trained. I used this to seal the carpet and covered seams with extra layer of gorilla tape. It worked perfectly. Prevented my carpet from damage while i potty trained the dog. I have attached a picture of the adorable hellion for your viewing pleasure.

I have had no problem applying or removing this by myself, It left no residue, and has saved me so much money and time. I use it because my older dog has become incontinent of late, unable to to wait until I get home. I have spent so much time and money on carpet cleaning and replacing many rugs, I tried this out of sheer desperation. Both dogs are constantly walking over the area this is applied to, causing no damage to it. I have even peeled up portions of it after "accidents" and just replaced that piece instead of the whole strip. There are several different brands to choose from but this is the only brand I have used, though I may try the other brands as they come in a longer roll. There appears to be different types of this in different stores and some are made for long and short pile carpets, I think maybe the horror stories about contractors using this and being left with residue may be down to the type of carpet it is used on. This is definitely sticky while it is on the roll, but used on my shag pile rug, there isn't enough surface area for it to "stick" per se, only enough for it to catch a hold. I did find that there can be patches where it doesn't have either any or enough adhesive to stick at all and it looks kind of cloudy but still does the job. Because of the placement of this rug it is used on, it is a high traffic area, I have not had it down in one section longer than 4 days so, until I try to remove it after a longer period of time I have to say I have no residue or difficulty with the removal, in fact after removing the first time without immediate replacement, dog hair still managed to blow around with no sticking to the rug. If you're worried about the adhesive, I would advise trying it on a carpet sample with similar pile to the carpet you want to protect.
