Works great and is well made
The post for my gate latch was both warped and twisted. I cut it off at about 3 feet, then sliced off one side to realign that side with the plane of the fence. To build it back out to the right thickness and to add strength I "sistered" on some "2 by" lumber (see photo). The latch is just what I needed, and it works really well. You can just swing the gate closed and it latches. You can lock and unlock it from either side. If you lock one side both sides are locked and if you unlock either side both are unlocked, which is just what I wanted. I did have a problem at first that if I locked what they call the slave latch then moved the key to the position to remove it, the latch would unlock. I found that I had to install the slave side with the key turned with the teeth up. Once installed the slave side worked just as it should and would remain locked. The instructions didn't cover that and don't go into a lot of detail but with patience I got it to work well. My fence is made of what is considered soft wood and the screws provided are fine thread which are better for hardwood, plastic and metal. Also, they are only 1 inch long and I stripped out the first one using a screwdriver. So, I switched over to using 2.5-inch-long Kregg blue-kote exterior grade screws made for pocket hole joinery. When I went to install the pin side, what they call the striker bracket, I wanted to mount it to wood first then position it to hit the latch correctly before screwing it to the gate. The 2.5 inch screws would be too long and stick through the board, so I then used some 1.5 inch stainless steel screws made for rain gutters but have the coarse threads I needed and work great in exterior projects. Both types of screws are available at Home Depot and can be spray painted black or even blacked out with a sharpie to match the latch. Both types of screws I used have what is known as a square drive. You can get driver bits and hand type drivers, they are just not as common as other drivers. A short driver bit probably won't work since half the screws are recessed. All three types of screws can be seen in an attached photo.

Doesn't lock
I was looking for a lock/latch that would keep my 4 yo from getting out of the house. She knows how to unlock all doors and latches to open doors. I thought this would work, but the latch wouldn't lock. So I bought a glide lock instead and it works wonders. If you're trying to keep your kids inside the house the Glide Lock is so easy to install and it works from the inside and outside the doors. It's the best product I've ever used. Its a lock that goes on top of the door and slides to lock/ unlock. It's a lot less expensive than this latch.

This is a very nice latch/lock. The instructions are a bit lacking. There was not information on how to change out the locks so you can re-key it to your own keys. We were hoping to do this w/ ours. The other part that was difficult was figuring out exactly how long to trim the operator arm. Luckily they give you 2. We first trimmed ours to what we thought was perfect - 4", and it did not seem to work, so kept trimming more off and trying it again. Then we ended up trimming off to much and had to use the second one and trim it to 4" again. Turns out there is only one way to push it all the way in on the outside part of the latch. This was really frustrating and some better instructions / video would have helped. It took something like 10 tries - each time having to take it on and off again. The components seem very sturdy and it closes securely and operates smoothly. It is a very nice system. I think at 55-60 this would be a very good value.

Excellent latch, I choose this one due to the double hooks that wrap around the shaft instead of others that have one hook.

      Great Lock!
This is a very sturdy lock which is what I needed. The other lock was flimsy and kept breaking.
