It does both. I guess it could be pulled out but would take and adult and hard pull. several times.
You cannot use this for a square outlet (e.g. a GFCI outlet) without cutting a different hole in the face plate. Out of the box, this can only be used on older style duplex outlets.
These are only available in one size.
Hi Momma6, below are the instruction for installation. 1 DISCONNECT POWER TO OUTLET and remove existing wallplate. Install new wallplate cover using existing screw. Plug appliance cords into outlet making sure Safety 1st logo on new wallplate is right side up and facing you for proper orientation. Cord securing hooks should be located at the bottom. 2 Wrap cords around wallplate/shortener. After wrapping cords around wallplate/shortener, secure each cord in hooks located at bottom of new wallplate. Cord shortener area will accommodate approximately 4 feet of cord which will depend on thickness of each appliance cord (2 cords max). IMPORTANT NOTE: MAKE SURE TO SECURE CORDS UNDERNEATH THE HOOKS FOR ADDED SECURITY. 3 Install cover over wallplate/shortener by snapping over side tabs. Appliance cords should feed through cord slots at bottom of cover. NOTE: Cord slots on cover MUST face down. 4 To expose plug and remove cover, squeeze tabs on both sides and gently pull cover away.
