Cutting off 6” from end of roll

Answer

I haven't used the 36" material, but I've used lots of the tape & I just tear it against a 6" drywall blade- usually tears nicely. I'd expect you could cut the wider roll w/ any sharp knife and something like a yardstick to hold the material in place and create an edge while you cut. A standard utility knife w/ a new blade should work well, a carpet knife, even better.

how to install

bigal, Here are the details from a couple of the reviews. FibaFuse is a non-woven fiberglass reinforcement for wall finishes and comes in 2 forms, this 36" wide roll and a 2" roll that's used like regular drywall tape. FibaFuse has several advantages- first, it's permeable so you don't get bubbles- the air just passes right through it- and if you get a dry spot, you can see it and just mash mud right through it. Since the mud encapsulates the fibers, it adheres better than paper tapes. Second, it's much thinner than paper tapes, so repairs are much easier to feather in. Third, because it's non-woven, it doesn't cause ridges like woven fiberglass, so it finishes w/ fewer coats. The 36" roll is used to consolidate large problems, like cracked plaster- mix some drywall mud fairly thin, roll it on, then roll the FibaFuse into the mud, then smooth and feather with a 10" knife. As soon as that sets, use a 10" knife to feather and smooth the whole repair. The 2" tape is great for patches because it's so thin- doesn't have to be feathered over such a wide area. Fibafuse is stocked in some stores, but you may have to bug your sales associate to find or even order it for you. But persist- it's great stuff. ______________________________________ This stuff is amazing! Thin your mud, roll it on with a thick nap paint roller and press this tape in, skim coat it and your 100+year old plaster walls will be better then new! Wear rubber coated fabric gloves.

Third, because it's non-woven, it doesn't cause ridges like woven fiberglass, so it finishes w/ fewer coats. The 36" roll is used to consolidate large problems, like cracked plaster- mix some hot mud fairly thin, roll it on, then roll the FibaFuse into the mud, then smooth and feather with a 10" knife. As soon as that sets, use a 10" knife to feather and smooth the whole repair. The tape is great for patches because it's so thin- doesn't have to be feathered over such a wide area. Difficult to buy
Home Depot ran out of this tape apparently the second that I ordered it and it took over an hour on the phone to find out if I needed to order it a 2nd time to get it. After the fact I found that Amazon also has it, the 150' roll is cheaper as well. This stuff is amazing! Thin your mud, roll it on with a thick nap paint roller and press this tape in, skim coat it and your 100+year old plaster walls will be better then new! Wear rubber coated fabric gloves.

This drywall tape dries seamlessly and is mold resistant. It strengthens the plaster compound and creates a strong bond. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend.
