Can this be used over semi gloss latex paint?
    ByMar 26, 2023
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

If you are using the tape to repair a damaged wall that is covered with semi-gloss latex paint, we would recommend prepping the surface with a fine grit sand paper prior to applying the tape. Be sure to wipe the surface clean of any dust and debris before applying.

Selected specific search for fire resistant drywall tape. This is one of six that populated on Home Depot online, however, there is no information mentioning there are fire resistant characteristics and or hourly fire ratings. Question. Does this meet all of the codes for 1-hour or 2-hour firewalls?

Can you use drywall compound from the bucket or must you use specifically "hot mud" when using the yellow self adhesive joint tape ??

                  Answer This Question

Hello, I use pre-mixed joint compound all the time with this tape

                  By|Jun 15, 2023

                  (1)

Using either the hot mud or the pre mixed will work well, but be careful if you use hot mud not to work it too long... if the mud gets stiff and you are still working it, it tends to dislodge the tape

                  By|May 4, 2023

We recommend using an all-purpose, pre-mixed mudd but it is OK to use hot mud as well. If you have additional questions, please contact our customer service department at 1-800-762-6694. Thanks!

                      Answer This Question

If you are using this type of material, we recommend bending the tape to a right angle and the pushing it into the corner securing it to both sides. You can also use Corner Tape which is already bent to a 90 degree angle for easier application.

This fiber tape is excellent on drywall as a joint tape for board to board, inside corners, patches and where dissimilar wall materials come together. It is much easier to deal with than seam paper tape and it sticky enough to apply right over a joint, even when the surface is not 100% dust free. Cost-wise, this large roll is the best buy. If you don't think you will use this much, you will easily use 50' on just the horizontal seams of a small bedroom alone. If you have larger rooms and occasional patching, keep this on hand using the larger roll).. It will "keep" but I would store it in a zip lock gallon bag to keep dirt and dust out when not in use.

No issues. I think mesh is easier to work with than paper. Paper may seem better to some people since it's smooth, but it's hard for many people unless they are pros. Sometimes the paper only temporarily sticks but not correctly underneath the paper and comes off months later. If you leave it in the sun, in the car or you bought an old roll, it may lose it's adhesive abilities.

This does just what it is supposed to, providing you use it like you're supposed to. The adhesive is not super strong, so don't expect it to tape your sheetrock together. It does however allow for a little mud to pass through the mesh to help with filling gaps or irregularities. The color is really nice. In a poorly lit construction site it stands out and lets you know where you need to mud next, and it's bright enough to show through the mud if you're not covered well enough. If you look closely in the pic you can see some yellow glowing through th emud on the ceiling

Use it with on all my personal sheetrock jobs
Just completed a sheetrock job and used this on all the seams from wall to ceiling. The self-adhesive feature holds the tape in place, even on the ceiling, allowing me enough time to apply the mud. Cuts easily with a knife or scissors. Can sometimes loose the end of it on the roll so I will often fold it back on itself between uses.
