Product Details

The SaniCompact is a self-contained system that is used to install a half-bathroom up to 9 ft. below the sewer line, or even up to 120 ft. away from a soil stack. The SaniCompact can handle the effluent from a toilet and sink for residential applications. The SaniCompact is a combination of a vitreous China toilet bowl and macerator/pump built into 1 compact unit. This modern shaped self-contained China toilet is especially designed with several ideas in mind: For situations where there is not enough space. As a toilet that uses a minimum amount of water. As a toilet for use with people that have physical limitations. The SaniCompact needs no gravity flow tank as the flushing action and macerating pump cycle is automatic after pressing a push button on top of the bowl. The flushing mechanism is electrically timed to allow water to pass through the toilet. By pressing the push button, this activates a timer and a solenoid valve in order to fill and wash the sides of the bowl. The motor starts and the waste and paper are sucked inside where it is macerated and pumped away. The motor stops after approximately 10 to 15 seconds and the timer programs the refill of the bowl with fresh water. The standard dual flush version uses 1.28 GPF (4.8 LPF) and 1 GPF (3.8 LPF).
  • Build a half bath for residential applications
  • Also highly recommended for the macerator/pump to be connected to a ground fault interrupter (GFI) circuit
  • Standard dual flush 1.28 GPF and 1.0 GPF
  • Includes seat
  • Allows the connection of a sink
  • Discharge elbow on the back of the SaniCompact can be rotated 360° to fit any type of installation required; a non-return valve, which comes already assembled on the discharge elbow, prevents back flow into the unit
  • SaniCompact is a forced main and does not need to vented and connected to a vent stack; other fixtures may need to be vented as per local plumbing codes

Q:Would it be wise to use 22-degree instead of 45-degree elbows for the waste line.

Answer This Question

A:  Elbows and all fittings for that matter, create resistance that absorbs and utilizes the force created by a pump. This occurs due to friction and a principle of fluid dynamics often referred to as swirl. I don’t think I am capable of explaining it well but if you are interested there are a lot of good YouTube videos that discuss it. Thoughtful plumbers will try to eliminate resistance. In my state, plumbing code requires that in certain applications you use two 45’s to form a long sweep rather than a 90. However I am not aware of any further appreciable improvement by using multiple 22’s or 11’s instead. I and every plumber I have ever known have only resorted to using fittings like 22’s and 11’s when the space required it. They are not fittings utilized to reduce resistance. They are used to get you out of an impossible situation. However if it makes you feel better I see no problem with it.

Q:Can I use a 1 1/2" pvc for the drain waste pipe? instead of the 1" Would it cause a problem for when you flush the toilet?

    Answer This Question

A:  No you cannot use an 11/2” discharge instead of a 1”. It needs to be 1” for two reasons. First the pump cycle is metered by time. The time cycle has been calibrated based on 1”. The additional water volume contained in 11/2” would conflict with the built in cycle time. Second the resulting water column created by using 11/2” instead of 1” would be roughly three times the weight. That weight would be sitting on a 1” check valve.

Q:Can I use 1/2"pex pipe for the water feed to the toilet? Also, what is the maximin length I can run the discharge line Horizontal? Before I go vertical to sewer line

      Answer This Question

A:  If you scroll down the home depot product listing page you will come to a section entitled Product Details where you will find PDF’s of the product documents. If you open the Brochure it contains the answer to your question. The water connection is 3/8”. You would not run ½” PEX directly to that. That is not how toilets are installed residentially in the US. You need to have external shut off valve at the toilet. Typically a plumber would run a ½” PEX or copper water supply line to a ½” x 3/8” toilet supply valve. Then they would attach the 3/8” toilet supply to the 3/8” side of that valve. As to your other question the brochure indicates the limits to be 120’ of run and 9’ of vertical lift.

I like the toilet. It needs to have a template to drill the holes correctly.

Contractor installed easily and unit works flawlessly as described. It saved some space in our small basement bathroom as it uses up 10 inches less space than a conventional toilet. The noise is no worse than a normal toilet flush probably since it's bolted to a cement floor which aids in sound reduction.. Very happy with this purchase and worth every penny.

Product Shipped and delivered ahead of schedule. Plumber came by to check it out, scheduled an installation date and installed very easily (for a professional, I didn't do any of it myself). We did a vertical line with the pipe bending at about 4 feet and then down to the stack based on where he could cut and modify the stack for the Y pipe. I also had him install a sink which was connected to the unit. Everything was done and tested within about 4 hours max. It works as described and is a solid solution for a 1/2 bath without the need to dig up your basement floor. Yes, it's more expensive than a conventional toilet, but for the above ground ease of installation, it is beyond worth it.

            Saniflo compact replacement
We replaced a ten year old Saniflo Compact which we inherited with the house we bought. Its motor must have been on its last legs when we moved in, because it soon wouldn’t flush a piece of toilet paper. The new one arrived early and undamaged; it was installed by a professional plumber in about an hour. It is performing its modest flush, which is about all you can expect from one of these units when it is operating normally.
