Product Overview

Red-skinned with a purple bloom, the juicy amber flesh of the Santa Rosa Plum is flushed with a bright red hue at the edges. The Santa Rosa plums are sized just right to please without being overwhelming and remains the benchmark for plum flavor. The fruit ripens in late July/early August to a red color with light yellow flesh. The plums can be eaten fresh or used for canning. The Santa Rosa is a partially self-pollinating plum tree that produces large, firm, good quality plums. You'll get fruit with only one plant, however, the crop will increase with another tree planted next to it. The Santa Rose Plum tree requires 600 chill hours. At maturity, it can reach a height of 10 ft. to 12 ft. It is hardy in USDA zones 5-9 and is shipped in a #5 pot with a minimum plant height of 24 inches.

Grows to 20 feet this is not dwarf and 15 feet wide rounded. Fruit reportedly is sweet. Tree as well-packaged as could be accomplished by shipper with hard cardboard 5 feet tall and inside protectors to keep it securely in place. Has a root ball of 12 inches of dirt. Care instructions state do NOT plant but put in dark overnight 2 nights with water which we did. The two (2) we bought are self-fertile but will bear more fruit if planted with a second plum variety. An excellent pollinator for other plum trees. Finish with 3 inches of mulch which you can see in our picture are pecan tree mulch. The second tree is far back left of picture both within pollinating distance. Other reviews indicate this Santa Rosa Plum Tree matures about now mid to late Summer. Today is August 4 of 2019 and we just planted both of ours day before yesterday and you can see they have new leaves and are bountiful and hearty without rot or disease and certainly with a big root ball of top grade potting soil. The trees both have secondary shoot main limbs. They neither lost really many leaves at all. The trees are neither one distressed and doing quite well. I have thoroughly watered them. The soil is fertile and I dug up a big hole around and below and filled it in then stepped it down to rid the ground of air pocket around the roots. My locations both allow plentiful sunshine and both just off the border of great water flow during deluge which we do get here in Atlanta. Hearty to minus 20 degrees we are good here. Likes moderately moist. I signed-up for Garden Club and got coupon for future purchases. You have to give them credit for this. These trees like sun and like water and produce a red plum for your enjoyment. I ordered and they shipped two days after I ordered them. I was advised of the delivery and schedule. I could not possibly be any happier. Thank you.

I bought this plum tree but it came with a fungal or bacteria problem. It's either shot hole fungus or leaf burn bacteria. I also bought a beauty plum tree at the same time (It could be from a different nursery since the tags are different) but it is also affected, although not as severely. I will try treating it with a copper based spray, but it's disappointing to have such a huge problem on 100% of all the leaves a week after buying it. Hopefully this stress won't kill the tree or prevent it from fruiting next year.

It was a beautiful tree, however the tree online was a dwarf version with a height under 12 feet. The trees delivered (return first) was a standard size - up to 20 feet, which I was unable to plant because of overhead requirements

It was tiny for the price. I had purchased another one from home depot store and it was twice as big. Same pot size. So beware, on line purchase may be a runt.
