The multi-step process makes for a multi day install. Shower pan needs more slope especially when installing a river rock or similar uneven tile on the shower floor. Schluters odd size trowel recommendations need to be updated to towels that can be found at regular local stores.

I've done showers the mortar way and the Schluter way....
I've done showers the mortar way and the Schluter way. Won't do a mortar bed any more. Saved me at least 2 days of shower building and I'm confidant it's the most water tight shower I've ever built. I originally thought it was too expensive, but in the time savings and results, it more than pays for itself.
