Obviously the width is the same, but I don't know how big your original holder is. These are 3 inch diameter cores.

I use it without dispenser because I prefer that way .

I'd say that it depends on the dispenser. If the 22.2 yard tape spool seemed tight, I'd advise against it, but most seem to work just fine. Just be aware that this stuff is EXTRA thick and takes a bit of effort to cut with standard dispensers.

I think the tape itself is probably waterproof since it seems to be of some kind of plastic. But I would be concerned about water seeping under the tape it self and penetrating the "package". I also don't know how long the mastic would hold up to water if underwater. Sorry!

To what extent? Drops of water would roll off for sure, but if the box is soaked the tape will likely come undone after awhile.

The tape repels water and can easily be wiped if needed. Very good product. Best packing tape I've ever purchased.

If you're looking for stronger tape, you could try the type with fibers in it. There's always the gray duct tape type as well. However, I've had good luck with the scotch packing tape. For heavier boxes, I have had multiple passes with very good results. I hope this helps!

Greetings, Cyn... From my personal experience, the Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape holds up very well for me. I use this tape to seal small and large boxes for extended storage of personal and household items, as well as for shipping boxes via USPS and UPS. This tape may appear to be "thin" but I have not experienced any failure problems in my use of it. The adhesive appears to "stick" very well on the cardboard boxes that I have used and none of the sealed boxes have broken open or otherwise failed for me. Have you actually tried using this tape and experienced failure of the tape? If you are trying to seal boxes that contain VERY heavy items, you could consider the Scotch Extreme Shipping Strapping Tape that is also available from Home Depot. Typically, a "strapping tape" contains fibers that add to its tensile strength. Unfortunately, this tape is more expensive than the Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape. It all depends on the specific use that you have for the tape whether you need to use the Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape or the Extreme Shipping Strapping Tape. I would recommend that you give the Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape a try in your own specific use and see if works as well for you as it has for me. Good Luck!
