Great Wireless Performance
I have an 8 camera Nightowl wired DVR system as well as a Foscam wireless IP camera. The SecurityMan SDII wireless IP camera is a nice addition. It provides excellent long range wireless coverage. I have my router positioned near the front of the house and I installed the camera on the far side of an outbuilding in the back yard. A distance of roughly 25' through the house and another 35' across the yard. The picture quality is very clear and crisp. An IR (infrared) cut filter provides the needed light filtering for accurate outdoor colors. There is an internal 8-GB SD card for recording. It's small for its purpose but it is upgradeable to 32-GBs. The included CMS (camera management software) is the most comprehensive that I've seen. Installing it is straightforward. Unfortunately, in my case, the included software CD was badly damaged on arrival. However, I was able to download the software along with the extensive user's manual from the SecurityMan website. Access to the camera, as you can see from the picture, can be gained through the CMS, an Internet browser or a smart phone. You'll be better served to register for a free DDNS (dynamic domain name system) to access the camera over the Internet. You can also access the camera through a wired Ethernet port if you don't want to fuss with the wireless setup. Setting up wireless access for me was a little tricky. The manufacturer provides the MAC address for the Ethernet connection but not for the wireless connection. I had to drill down into my router to check to see what MAC address was trying to connect to it so that I could grant it access. This issue probably has more to do with my particular router settings than with the camera but it would make setup that much easier if the wireless MAC address was also provided. Smart phone setup was very easy. In my case I used an i-Pod Touch 4. Download and install the free app from the app store and follow the simple instructions included with the camera. Having the app installed when aiming the camera makes it much easier to get it to the desired position as you can view the results in real time. The power supply for the camera is rated for indoor use only. If you're installing the camera outdoors, there will be the matter of running a wire from the power supply, through the wall and out to the camera. As you can see from the photo, the Ethernet port is roughly 1 inch across. It will require drilling a large enough hole in the wall to pass it through if the connections are to be maintained indoors. I chose to install a PVC electrical box next to the camera to house the connections. This method required that only a small hole be drilled in the wall behind the box so as to pass through the low-voltage power supply cord. If you're looking for a security camera to see who's at your front door, keep an eye on your car or do a little back yard bird watching, this SecurityMan SDII camera *is* a little pricey but it's performance will not disappoint.

    Great Security Camera!
    Husband bought this camera nearly a year ago. Installation/set up was easy, but he did have to make one phone call to the manufacturer who was able to help immediately. I think the price is less now, so we may buy another one. You do need an electrical outlet, but thankfully, where we placed it, this was not a concern. I have recommended this camera to friends as it is easy to use and a good value.

        Got 2 cameras none of them worked... Could not configure and iPhone app keeps crashing.
        I got 2 cameras and returned both. The iPhone app could not be configured even thought it claims to be fairly easy with a QR code on the camera, but to no avail. Furthermore the app keeps crashing. Home Depot should not sell this product, it is waste of peoples time and effort.

        Not 1,2,3 done!
        We worked on setting this up for hours. The fast start directions were sparse. The manual is on the CD provided. The manual directions were better but, even then, we didn’t get it successfully set up where it would stay connected. When it did connect, the picture was very good. For us it was not 1, 2, 3 done. You have to be able to plug in the camera to a power outlet which, for us, limits where we can put it because the plug is short and in most places an extension cord doesn’t look good. We want to put it up high and we have no power outlets up high. We would need to re-wire our electricity and put in a new power outlet close to the installation location. Which we might at some later date. To perform the set-up, you have to start by connecting the camera to your internet router via an RJ-45 Ethernet cable. You download the appropriate app for your phone - iPhone or Android and then are to configure the camera so that you get the camera’s video on your phone with the RJ-45 attached. Next, you are to disconnect the RJ-45 cable and the camera is to automatically reconnect via Wi-Fi. We could not make that happen and stay connected. Therefore, with these two limitations -- Power outlet location and Wi-Fi disconnects – this camera so far has been unusable by us. Very disappointing.

        Unfortunately the AC adapter is required to operate the full functions and features of the camera. The purpose of the AC adapter is to provide power to the DVR/Recorder, night vision LED’s and Wi-Fi module so that the security camera can capture any unwanted activity when it happens.

        A “failed to connect” attempt is usually caused by a poor or weak Wi-Fi connection from the camera to the router. If this is the case, a Wi-Fi repeater/extender may be needed to help re-broadcast the weak Wi-Fi signal to the location where the camera is mounted. Please keep in mind that the Wi-Fi signal shown on your mobile device does not represent the signal from the camera to the router.

        Excellent wireless camera
        I bought this for my Wife for Christmas so she could watch the deer in our backyard. She loved it and I think it works great! I bought another one that had only 20 ft of night vision but took it back when I saw this one....and I am glad I did! The quality of image is great and the night vision works excellent! You won't be sorry about buying this. The wireless option works from the entire length of our house!

        remote camera
        very nice camera fairly easy to mount,drill three holes screw the base and camera to wall or something else plug in the power cord and follow the instructions for your iPhone or android installation or you can use your computer or laptop to view. it does not have a pan or tilt base it is fixed mount you can loosen the nut and manually move it in the direction you want and tighten the nut back up
