            A:  I used a brad nail gun.

            by|May 6, 2023

A:  You could install this with a hammer, but it will take you a long time. I installed mine with a nail gun and tried to place the nails where they will be hidden (where baseboard or moulding would go) so I didn't have to fill/sand and paint the holes.

              by|May 5, 2023

A:  Hand nailing it will take quite some time. If you have the ability to rent a finish nailer then I would suggest that greatly. Either way Nail it through the tongue as to hide the nail holes. If you have no choice but to hand nail the boards then use at least a 6d finish nail. Good luck!

A:  The product is installed with finish nails.

Q:What does the back side look like? I'm wanting a faux shiplap look

                        Answer This Question

A:  One side is bead board. The other is V Groove. Both sides are primed.

                        by|May 5, 2023

A:  The back side is smooth but the manufacturer puts two labels on every board on the smooth side and you will regret the day you try to use the smooth side since it is so hard to remove the labels. It looks good once you get the labels off but I can testify to the fact you don't want to tackle it unless it is only a few boards or you love scraping and cleaning.

A:  Backside has a V-Groove look. I will be using this product very soon. I will be installing on reverse side as shiplap, and beaded side on ceiling. I will add pics as soon as I complete the project

A:  Its a solid 6 in wide ship lap look with a V groove in between where the tongue and groove engage. This is how we installed it as well. We love it!

A:  We are using it for a faux ship lap on the back side and it looks great! Only con is that there are two stickers on the back that have been hard to remove. Great product

Great product and the completed project looks fantastic! I used this for my porch ceiling. It was easy to install. Used a nail gun with finishing nails and Liquid Nails for added support. The only minor challenge we had was that the lengths we not always consistent. Some were slightly larger than 96" and had to be cut down to match the other planks. Overall I could not be happier with the outcome.

We needed to do a covered outdoor Lanai ceiling in Florida. As this product is rated for outdoors, Kiln dried and primed with 2 coats plus I added an exterior ceiling paint.. I am hoping it stands up. I used 1 x 2 firing strips screwed to trusses then nailed these with a brad nail gun. It was an economical solution, turned out great and has that beachy vibe!

The boards were the size of some tongue and groove redwood boards I had in my basement. I used the back side as it matched the smooth finish of what I was trying to match. The surface was a tad rough, but since what was being matched was 60+ years old and had seen a little knocking around, all looks good. I will say, I am disappointed in the material handling either by the wholesaler or the retailer, had to look thru a lot of boards to get a few with the tongue and groove not damaged.

Much nicer than the non primed boards, the knots are removed and finger jointed back together, so 100% usable material, unlike the standard grade non primed boards. I just wish more stores had them in stock, I could only find 6 total in all the stores in the area, I needed 100+.

I went through many boards to get ones without cracks or obvious defects. I was pleased that most were acceptable and none were warped or curved. Installation was very quick using an airgun. Finishing was quick and easy.
