Modifying the cover in any way will void the warranty. It would also affect the strength of the cover.
Check with home depot or the company that mwakes these covers and see if theery mske a bigger size. Paul
Yes, I took me to install it 2 hours. It’s was something I did my self invented with hinges
Yes, you can use the clips to attach to the bars on the grate.
My product was damaged in the packaging before it arrived to me.
It depends.... If the grate's shape doesn't exactly match this well cover, there may be no spare space to accommodate the cover. I'd buy the cover and try it out. If it doesn't fit over the grate, just take it back to the store. If the cover fits, your next challenge will be connecting the cover to the grate. The cover comes with clips that are made to snap onto the round edge of a window well wall. That' probably won't work (I don't know what your grate looks like). However there are plenty of ways to attach the cover to the grate. Remember: You have do drill holes through the cover no matter what you do, so do it again. The first idea I have would be to buy Hollow Wall Anchors, like the one in the picture. This style has the side walls spread out to hold the anchor. Put this through a hole in your grate, tighten it up, drill a hold in the cover to put the screw through the hole. Does this probably in 4 places and your all set. If you have a few washers, I'd add them to the screw to spread the pressure of the screw head on the cover. Good luck!
It is not hinged and lifts off as one piece.
Thank you both for your answers. I left the rubber guard on and tightened the clip screws after placing the cover on the window well and that seems to work. I also added a chain connected to the window well and the cover in case I am guessing wrong about the wind.
No mine is 51 inches and it hangs over 1 inch on each side if yours is 54 won't fit but it would fit a 53 inch window. Thankh paul
