Exceptional Cleaning
I bought this vacuum because I used it at a friends house. I was impressed with it's ability to remove dust, grit(sand) and Labrador dog hair from the hardwood floors and rugs. I received mine a month ago and I am very pleased with the results. I use it on my slate floors which are dark grey, it removes the dust and dog hair perfectly. We have hardwood floors; same results. It also transitions from hardwood to rug seamlessly. I also like the long electrical cord, helpful when going room to room. Just wish I had seen the referral money offer before I ordered it. My friend deserves a $20 referral fee.

Floor Nozzle, belt and dust cup failures!!
I have over 10 of these vacuums and every single one of them has broken in the same spots. First the belts will slip off the gear and then wear through the side of the plastic. Oh and you can't get a new belt unless you research and order from china which I did since it was such a common issue. Then the back part of the frame will break where it is screwed together and the wheel will pop out and always on the left side. Prob because most people are right handed so it prob flexed that way more often. Then the dust cup will break at the attachment point and there is no fix for it. So if you like paying for additional parts and not having anything covered under warranty then this is the vacuum for you. When they are operational they do work great but not for long.
The sole reason I purchased this Shark vacuum was for the “anti-wrap” technology. I had an ancient Dyson vacuum that I was tired of having to cut out the hair wrapped around the roller. With three people in the house with long hair plus a Golden Retriever and two Papillion dogs, we live in a hairy house that needs daily vacuuming. When I saw this particular vacuum with its claim of no wrapping around the roll, I was sold. To be fair, it did work great the first 8-10 months but after that, it was just like any other upright vacuum and I had to start checking it frequently for hair around the roller. It is so frustrating to have to take the time to continuously cut the hair off and clean the roller, when supposedly this vacuum would be different. Added to which, the hose is so short and doesn’t extend at all so you have to hold the canister all the time because if you set it down, it constantly falls over. The only good thing I can say about this vacuum is that it has great suction. Parting advice: pass this vacuum by entirely. I’m saving for a Dyson.
Good vaccume doesn't hold up well
I bought this about a year ago , I love the light on the vaccume. My only downfall with this is how it attaches to the base. One of the sides broke then within a week the other side also broke. It should of never broke in the spots it did
        Disappointed, hair still tangled.
Bought this in March hoping to love it as much as my previous Shark. Especially looking forward to less hair around the brush. All I can say is I'm extremely disappointed. This is NOT a self cleaning brush. I have to remove the cover monthly to untangle the hair. Today, hair was so tangled it stopped the brush from turning. I never let it get to full, I clean the canister regularly, to prevent overfill issues.
          Anti hair wrap? Eh
If the reason you are considering this machine is because of the anti hair wrap technology, don’t buy into the hype...it doesn’t exist ! I have long hair myself and so does my daughter and not to mention we have a Newfoundland dog which is a long hair coated dog which sheds all the time ! You will find yourself sitting on the floor pulling & cutting hair from the roller like you would with any other machine. Now the machine itself pushes smoothly, is very maneuverable and has amazing suction. It’s very light weight and versatile, makes cleaning stairs a breeze. But as I said before don’t buy this solely on the presumption that you’ll never have to cut, remove or pull hair from the roller again. As long as there is a roller, there will be hair wrapped around it. These photos were taken after just 4 days of built up dog hair in my bedroom due my Dyson dying and having to wait for my new machine to arrive.

Tons of reasons to choose this over other brands.
I bought this vacuum on 6/14/19 and have been waiting to see how it performs and holds up. The zero m self cleaning brush is awesome! My wife's hair would clog up my old vacuum every 3 months and I'd have to slice it with a razor and pull and pull. This thing really doesn't get tangled up with hair at all. The soft roller up front grabs cheerios and other small stuff without smashing it into the carpet. There is a light on the main head AND the handle/wand which comes in really handy. The canister is easy to clean and holds a ton. I like the three different settings, but kinda wish they were all lit up all the time, because I forget which is which and I have to cycle through them. No big deal though. My single complaint is that the tube that goes from the handle to the vacuum doesn't really stretch at all. So if you're using the crevice tool and you leave the rest of the vacuum standing up it pulls it right over unless you're within about 2 feet. I just use the lift away feature and hold the canister while I need to use the wand. Would be nice to have like 6 or so feet of stretch, but ah well.

Very Happy Shark APEX Duo Clean with Zero M
We have 4 dogs and 3 cats and I'm completely befuddled by negative reviews that show the beater brush clogged and wrapped with hair. I have used this vac for 6 months now and I'm very pleased, not a single piece of hair wrapped around the brush. So this vac does indeed do as advertised. This is the most versatile vac I have ever used and I could not be more pleased especially with the suction from the provided tools. My son has used it to vacuum the interior of his car as opposed to our shop vac. I use this Shark on carpet, tile, wood floors and area rugs. Admittedly, I had to 'learn' how to use this vac and quickly realized to utilize the "floor" switch located on the handle as I transition from different surfaces. When in hard surface setting, the roller brush spins more slowly and the vac utilizes 100% suction. This vac picks up everything, even stuff in the grout. As you transition to low pile carpet then don't forget to click the floor switch which eases off the suction some but speeds up the brushes. This will make the machine much easier to push on carpet but it still deep cleans. There is a setting to prevent smaller area rugs from getting sucked up into the machine as well. My older Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive that I purchased in 2002 can't handle this more delicate task because it had such powerful suction. I still have the Kenmore. This Shark replaced a Dyson that lasted 7 years that was not as powerful and didn't have the tool suction that this Shark APEX Duo Clean has. The Shark seems to be thoughtfully engineered and very well made. I can get under very low profile surroundings with ease by simply removing the dust / motor canister which essentially turns this upright into a canister vac. The Shark has a substantial feel, not flimsy at all. It is a completely sealed system which means the exhaust air is cleaner than the intake air. Filters are washable so no filter to purchase. And a separate motor drives the beater brush so there are no broken belts to replace. There seems to be some confusion regarding the roller brush vs the beater brush. It is suggested that every now and then you take 5 seconds and remove the plastic cover and remove any debris that might be found trapped around the soft roller brush. I have only had to do this once and it is very easy. Did I mention that you will have your own dedicated LED light when using attachments? 5 Stars all the way around EXCEPT for on-board tool storage where I find the tools can easily fall off the unit. So the tools are stored in the closet when not in use.. I really did need to learn to love this vac and it has won me over. Remember, let the floor selector switch be your best friend if you vacuum over different surfaces!

                Expected more from Shark
When we first received the vacuum, a couple parts were missing. The third star is for their customer service representative who helped quickly and efficiently and sent the items right away. The vacuum itself we bought in large part to the self cleaning roll feature. It has not proved to be true once, even after completing the steps that customer service advised of us each time we asked. We’re very loyal Shark/Ninja customers and have bought 9-10 products over the last several years and this one is the first to let us down.

                Amazing machine
This vacuum is the best vacuum Ive purchased to date! This literally picks up EVERYTHING!! I have 4 kids and a Labrador... there is always dirt, fur, hair and crumbs to be picked up that sweeping just doesn’t get. Got a dirt pile, no problem. Sock-oops, still no problem. Squishy cat ball, no problem. Confetti... Long streaming confetti, no problem. And guess what?! Only two strands got stuck around the brush roll and it was only it’s tail ends! I expected every single one to get stuck and the machine to stop. This vacuum didn’t skip a beat, loose suction, stop... NOTHING. It just kept going! I’ve even purchased other models for my mother in-law who WAS a Dyson lover. Not anymore! I don’t think I’ll ever purchase any other brand! In this picture I had just vacuumed the confetti. I have not cleaned the brush roll since purchasing. I’ve had the vacuum since March 10, 2020.
