DO NOT BUY! They deteriorate after a few years
DO NOT BUY! The black rubber on the inside in these will deteriorate after a few years and start to chunk off. The black rubber will chunk off into your drinking water and when it gets into your bathtub it smears and is impossible to clean off. These should be recalled! No where does it say that these are not permanent and need to be replaced every few years. Absolute garbage!

Failed after 9 months
We installed a new water heater and the plumber used the sharkbite quick connectors. We needed to turn the temperature up on the water heater to 140° so that it would flow through the house. The shark bite connection then began to fail and sent small rubber pieces throughout the water system. We replaced both of the shark bites with straight copper connections.

Rubber in my water
I got a new water heater installed by a plumber 8 months ago and he used this shark bite hose. This hose is already breaking down. I replaced my shower head filter today and found large deposits of rubber. Other people here claimed years of use before this issue would arise and some said this company fixed the issue in 2013. It’s 2021 and I can tell you this issue is not fixed and is now leaving rubber residue on my family when they shower and on the dishes I wash!

Rubber interior fails, releasing black sediment into water heater and to faucets, appliances, etc.
A few years ago, we replaced our water heater and used two SharkBite water heater connectors to get it up and running. Within 2 years, we started noticing black sediment (rubber from the interior of the hoses) showing up at and clogging faucets and shower heads.
It got so bad that a high flow rate when filling the bathtub caused so much sediment to come from the hoses to the tub that you would be unable to take a bath.
We resolved the issue by using corrugated stainless steel lines with soldered 3/4 male connectors on the pipes.
In addition to the sediment issue, any good plumber will tell you that SharkBites are the weakest point in any plumbing when installed and most likely to leak, especially when compared to traditional soldering or compression fittings.
Therefore, do NOT buy these SharkBite braided stainless steel water heater connectors. Do the job right the first time by avoiding this product.

The SharkBite connections make plumbing problems just go away. I've had the opportunity twice now to use this product.
Once on the main line coming into the house in a tough spot for soldering and hooking up a hot water heater and the sharkbite water heater connector with a shutoff valve for the cold water in was great. Thank you so much for a brilliant product.

Worth every penny! Bought water heater and SharkBite connector lines on line at 8 AM for pick up. Order filled by 10 and picked up. Changed out water heater in 1 hr with no soldering or pipe fitting - hot water by noon! Tremendous product for connecting water heaters - especially the supply line with the valve already installed. Make sure to pick up a flex gas hose as well for complete "no pipe fitting" install.

Nothing makes more sense. Years ago, when I became a multi property owner, my plumber said to me pay attention to how he replaces a hot water tank. At that time he taught me how to solder sweat connections in copper. Now many properties later, and the innovation of "shark bite", I have changed no less than 5 tanks on my own. The most recent 2 with " push to connect" braided lines. Now for the money, savings. All in 40 gallon gas 6 year Rheem tank tax and supplies $495.00. Call a plumber,{which I know someone that did} $1078.00 installed. You do the math!!!

Great product if you don’t want to solder.
I have a small water heater in my attic because it’s far from the house heater so I can get instant hot water. The space is tight and it was easier to use the shark connectors than try to solder.
No leaks and is removable with the special tool. I used mine on copper and removed the plastic insert.
