About This Product

SharkBite Max flexible water heater connectors are the fastest and easiest way to connect your water heater to existing pipes in your home. A newly designed stainless steel collet retainer delivers additional strength and durability and provides a 200 psi pressure rating. SharkBite Max connectors do not require a PEX tube liner, and a re-engineered body allows you to insert the pipe using less force and greater ease. No soldering, clamps, unions, glue, or special tools required. After inserting to pipe, stainless steel teeth bite down and grip the pipe tightly while a specially formulated O-ring compresses around the pipe to create a watertight seal. The flexible stainless steel braided hose reduces the need for extra joints or fittings, allowing for faster installs. Available in additional lengths (12 in. to 24 in.) and with integrated ball valve shut off.

By|Mar 5, 2019

No, easily removed from your existing piping, but does require an inexpensive horseshoe shaped tool to release the 'teeth'

    By|Aug 14, 2019

Yes. They are very easy to remove. Check out the various websites that show how to do it, which is a matter of pressing on a certain area of the connector.

Yes, SharkBite push to connect fittings are removable using either our disconnect clip or disconnect tongs. If you need further assistance, please contact Customer Service M-F, 8am-5pm at (877) 700-4242.

Yes, they can be removed but not very easily. Do your due diligence and be certain before installing. You can use a "Disconnect Clip" to remove the SharkBite. Image and description are attached below. SharkBite is great. I wish they had a SharkBite for everything.

These lines are "stainless steel" no worries.

Stainless braid should be OK, brass coupling might corrode in weather.

If the water quality is poor in your area it can cause any rubber to corrode, we manufacture with the highest quality EPDM Rubbers, but if water quality is a concern in your area we offer a Stainless Steel Corrugated version in-store and online of the same hose that has no liner and may work better for your application.

1/2" indicates the push to fit side, Push it on very snugly to the clean copper line. 3/4" indicates the threading on top of the tank. Again connect very snugly. Remember, push to fit connect side first!

It's a slip fit. Just push the tubing into the fitting. Be aware though, that a 1/2" SharkBite fitting requires 5/8" tubing.

This specific flex hose is designed to connect a 1/2" male adapter to a 1/2" copper, PEX, or CPVC pipe. The female side can be threaded on to the male adapter and the SharkBite side can be pushed on just like any of our other fittings. If you are unfamiliar with how to install SharkBite fittings, please review the installation video attached. Please keep in mind that flex hoses are not designed to be placed behind walls or underground.

Years ago, when I became a multi property owner, my plumber said to me pay attention to how he replaces a hot water tank. At that time he taught me how to solder sweat connections in copper. Now many properties later, and the innovation of "shark bite", I have changed no less than 5 tanks on my own. The most recent 2 with " push to connect" braided lines. Now for the money, savings. All in 40 gallon gas 6 year Rheem tank tax and supplies $495.00. Call a plumber,{which I know someone that did} $1078.00 installed. You do the math!!!

I have a small water heater in my attic because it’s far from the house heater so I can get instant hot water. The space is tight and it was easier to use the shark connectors than try to solder. No leaks and is removable with the special tool. I used mine on copper and removed the plastic insert.

Had to return them and go with the all metal tube style. Nothing wrong with these, but check any bend radius you need because anything more than the image will make the hose kink.
