          Amazing self-adhering tape
You have to work fast to get the tape wrapped tight before it is set up. It won't pull apart once the tape touched itself.

This is a unique product, at least from what I’ve seen. There is no adhesive on it, it just clings to itself. It is very stretchy (length wise), so you pull on it as you wrap it around. Of course it could work to protect fittings and electrical components under ground. But I think it has a lot more possibilities. For instance, I used it to hold wicker on a chair that was starting to unravel at the arms. It also serves as a padding on some water pipers that rattle at times. I can’t wait to try it out on something new.

This product is highly resistant to erosion and is long-lasting and very strong. It is designed to seal something that you do not want moisture getting to. Such as an electrical pipe connection that is not glued but underground or in a wet area. This is definitely a specialty item. Do not purchase this thinking that you're getting tape that you're going to be able to wrap around something and it stick. Emphasis on non-adhesive multi-purpose silicon wrap. The only way it adheres is that it must be able to wrap around itself. Once the product comes in contact with itself the chemical bond begins to form. The product does not shrink to selloff or make airtight. You must make sure that the wrap you initially do is airtight and water tight if that's what you are desiring. The silicone wrap is slightly stretchable so you can pull on it to get a good tight fit when wrapping around the product that you're trying to secure from moisture or water. Once you wrap the product the material will bond to itself and what ever you wrap it with. You must make sure the edges are sealed and that there are no air gaps.

Some knucklehead (me) cut through a PEX irrigation pipe during a trenching project. I spliced the PEX with another piece of pipe and some brass connectors. But, I began to wonder if this splice was suitable for underground installation. It's not! However, PEX recognizes the potential dilemma and offers this silicone wrap for just the purpose of protecting and waterproofing the connection. Wrapping this stuff around the connection was challenging due to the already underground splice. I first tried a 12" long piece of wrap, but found that it adheres to itself if it folds over. Eventually, I found that smaller pieces of 3 to 4" is much easier to handle. And, since the wrap stretches, a little goes a long way. It appears to fully seal the brass fittings.

This is a made in the USA SharkBite product and SharkBite is a provider of plumbing and water control systems. The stated purpose of the product is to protect brass fittings when buried because that is what SharkBite sells. I’m saying this because you’ll find other uses for this product. You can wrap loose cords in it or wrap the handle of an old yard tool to make it easier on the hands just to name a couple. Since I currently do not have to bury any plumbing, but I wanted to see how it works, I wrapped a dirty old piece of PVC with it. It is very easy to use once you get the first wrap around because it sticks to itself and not the object you are wrapping. It’s advertised to stretch 300% and I believe it. It stretches like a rubber band. I believe if you apply this correctly and tight that it will be waterproof. Once applied it has a nice rubbery feel to it. If you wrap a leaky pipe correctly, I feel like this will seal it.

This is nice sealing wrap, it is fairly easy to use and where it touches itself it turns into one solid piece after a few hours. The only things it didn't like about it is that the backing film is a little brittle especially when cold and tends to break rather than peel off, and it does not stick to whatever you are putting it on so you have to make sure that you have it stretched tight enough to make sure that no moisture can get between the wrap and what ever you are putting it on. Other than that not much to dislike about it. Obviously I can not comment on it's durability over a long period of time underground.

This silicone wrap is made of pretty good stuff. The non-adhesive refers to the fact that there are no glues on this wrap and it is not like tape. It is silicone and as you wrap a pipe or tube with it and stretch it during wrapping it adheres to itself. Quite well in fact. The wrap is water proof and fairly long lasting. I recommend this product for hard to seal areas, troublesome connections, and overall protection. Good stuff.

I used the product to repair a handle on leaf mulcher. It was a challenging job since the break is in hard to reach area. The tape is very easy to use. It has a nice feel to it, one side is covered by plastic strip. Once the strip is removed, the tape can be wrapped around the repair item. The stretch helps to make the contact better, I found it very helpful. The tape sticks to itself immediately but it is not a strong bond. And it can be cut easily with regular scissors. The application was very easy and forgiving. I waited about three hours before carefully using the mulcher. The tape was not cement hard but it was holding on tight. Next I used the mulcher again two days later to really allow the tape to cure. It attached strongly but I would not call it cement strong--see the video of my pulling on the tape after about two days. There is something probably unintended about the product--it smells wonderful! The fabulous scent reminded me of lilly of the valley, I think. Because of that, I would not hesitate to use the product indoors. Overall, the silicone tape was very easy to cut and use and smelled wonderful. The seal seems to be tight and strong, but not cement hard as the description implies. And it does not provide stability or strength to the repaired or joined area, which was my initial impression and intended use. The description is not clear if that the purpose. I think it works well with those caveats.
