Questions & Answers

How to remove from carpet
ByJun 7, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Hello, Thank you for reaching out. Sharpie Oil-Based Paint Markers are designed to provide permanent markings on a variety of surfaces, so removing them from carpet can be very difficult and results may vary depending on the carpet material and how long the stain has been present. Because different carpet fibers and dyes can react differently to cleaning products, we're unable to recommend a specific removal method, as it could potentially cause discoloration or damage. We recommend consulting it with a professional carpet cleaning service for guidance specific to your carpet type. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact us directly via https://www.sharpie.com/support/contact-us. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am – 8pm Eastern Time. Thank you!

Where is a good place to store the paint pen once you are finished using it?

        Answer This Question

Hello. Thank you for your question about the Sharpie Oil-Based Paint Markers. For best results, we recommend storing the markers horizontally with the cap tightly secured. This helps maintain even ink flow and prevents the tip from drying out. Be sure to keep them in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via our Contact Us form on our website. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Sharpie® Consumer Care

Which oil based primera work best to cover over inadvertent sharpie pro markups on drywall?
          ByAug 5, 2024
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Hello. Thank you for reaching out to us. To cover Sharpie Pro marker marks on drywall, an oil-based primer is an excellent choice because it effectively seals in permanent ink and prevents it from bleeding through the paint. Make sure to apply a thin, even coat over the marks, allow it to dry, and then you can apply your final paint coat. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Sharpie® Consumer Care

            Horrible for use on metal
Bought this yesterday and it turned out to be a mess. Specifically says on the package that it’s great for use on metals but it just rubs off once dry and leaves a black stain all over your hands

Purchased the vent covers by Stellar Air. Loved the look but they made my attic cover look old and worn. So I took the vent cover and traced the pattern onto the attic cover. Can of white spray paint and 1 sharpie paint maker later, I have a work of art! Now I'm wondering what else I should Sharpie! Will definitely buy this item again!

                  Adidas Ultraboost/NMD owners look!!!
The oil based Sharpie pen refreshes the yellow, stained, and oxidized Adidas boost bottomed sneakers. Just clean the boost midsole well with soapy water, dry, and apply 1-2 coats with this marker. It is absolute magic and makes the shoes look brand new again! See the before and after photos. Note, you MUST use the oil based marker as the water based will dry, crack and peel with movement over time.

                    Professional finish..EZ to use...ECONOMICAL!
I'm totally excited about the NEW look of my bargain basement 5 yr old mirrors. I have a studio apartment so the mirrors give the appearance of more space. Over the years I have changed to black grey and white decor but the mirrors were still in great shape, just a brownish finish. After an hour, with the black Sharpie Bold oil based paint marker (less than $4!) I had the cutest two tone black/brassy mirrors EVER! I still have touches of beige around so the little strip of brassy brown I left on the mirrors draws everything together. There's A LOT of paint in the marker so I dripped a couple times on the first one but that's cuz I'm a klutz!. I did the whole project with the mirrors still up on the wall cuz I was concerned I'd break em or whatever. If I wasn't so clumsy I would have taken them outside. ANYWAYS, after the first few minutes I had fun took my time and saved A BUNCH of money.GOOD LUCK..if I can do it anyone can!

It's an ok product, but not the greatest. It's a little tricky to figure it out... the felt tip is spring loaded, so when you push it down hard the felt tip retracts a little up into the pen... this action is what gets the paint flowing. But it does take quite a while for the paint to start flowing into the tip. It does drip pretty easily, so you have to watch out for the drips. Also, it's oil-based paint, if that's what you're looking for. I still prefer using a small brush and some normal paint from a can.

I used it to paint faded house numbers and black trim around the numbers. It was quick and easy. I had done this about 2 years ago with the same brand pen and needed a new one to touch it up again.
