Three years ago I installed “this” product in our living, dining and family rooms. I love it, still do. The install was easy and relatively quick for one person.
We recently decided to remove the tile from our foyer and main hallway and chose to install more of “this” flooring. I had leftover planks, so I ordered less than the total square footage needed.
That is when I learned sometime in the last three years Shaw changed the product. Not the top, but both the thickness and locking configuration. This change caused me to order more flooring (four boxes).
First problem, upon opening the first new box I found it did not include “Random Sizes”. All the boards were the same 50” length. In the end, I had two “Random Size” boxes and two 50” length boxes.
Second problem, the new locking system is flimsy and didn’t work as easily as the old one. I suspect the change was done to reduce production costs. Which I don’t have a problem with IF the quality remains the same. It definitely didn’t.
Third problem, the 50” planks were difficult for one person to install. This is because of both the new locking system AND the decreased thickness. The thinner planks easily warped and further complicated installation. It was awful.
In the future I will actively avoid anything made by Shaw.

Sample at store was .4375 thick, materials received were .1875 thick, I had to add additional material to raise the sub floor to meet the height needed to match the existing floor height .
Material other than the thickness looked the same from the top as what was in the store, I will know better after this winter season how this flooring holds up.

The flooring looks beautiful and was pretty easy to install....
The flooring looks beautiful and was pretty easy to install. It took my boyfriend 2 days to complete installation on a great room and hallway, and I'm thrilled with the results! The flooring seems to be holding up pretty good to traffic too.

The wood is supposed to have different size we have...
The wood is supposed to have different size we have 15 boxes all boards are the same size. Not what expected to look like. Boards are weak damaging easily with cuts that we aren't supposed to do.

Good floor, easy install , package delivered in very good condition Finish on floor was not as durable as I expected I would use it again , but in a bedroom or a none heavy traffic areaNot so sure about living room or hallway I’ll have to see what time reveals

We are saddened that you were not as happy with the finish on the floor. Epic Plus hardwood built with Stabilitek resists denting by 30% more than engineered 7 ply Asian imports. Duras/Epic Plus products will be produced using the PCV format, which increases janka hardness rating (making the product stronger and more durable) as well as makes the veneer less susceptible to face checking issues.
