Questions & Answers

Will this secure wrought iron hand rails imbedded in concrete that have become loose. I can pull up on them with some force and they will move vertically, but not enough to pull them out. Figured I would fill the void with this

That’s exactly what I was wondering. I was just going to go ahead and do it. I would drill the hole then squirt the gunk into it and push the anchor down in and put it tight. That would help to keep it from wiggling loose. That’s what I think. can’t hurt.

It is ok to use epoxy on wedge anchors. You have to set the anchor and torque it before the epoxy sets. Otherwise, if the epoxy sets first, the anchor won't tighten. Epoxy anchors are generally stronger than wedge anchors, but it can be done wrong.

      Works well if you’re prepared.
Just finished a project with this. Some tips... reviews mentioned it sets up fast so this product was kept in the fridge until I was ready to use it. I used it on 8x 3/8” wide and 2” deep holes where I stuck in 22 gauge 3/8” wide stainless steel ties and had about half the tube left over. Prep your holes well. I used a vacuum first then blew it out with an air compressor and a cloud of dust came out each hole. Inspected holes with a flashlight then blew them out again. Plan your actions too. I squeezed epoxy into each hole then after filled immediately started filling next hole and wife would insert and align the ties after each hole was filled. The epoxy did set fast but it felt we had plenty of time. Caulking gun I used was an HDX Composite Drip Free Caulk Gun and I would definitely recommend something more heavy duty because squeezing was tough and the handle flexed, but it did get the job done.

We switched from Hilti to this material. Much less costly and it works in a standard caulking gun.We were setting 10"x1/2" anchors in cold weather and this stuff was set enough to tighten all the bolts in about 40 Min. We have now used it on 3 projects and we are VERY pleased with it. In cold weather just leave it somewhere warm prior to use.

The distribution of the epoxy and the Portland substrate very uneven resulting in some uses very fast setting while other applications did not harden even after 24 hours. At $32 per tube I expected much better quality.

i used the Sika AnchorFix 2 to anchor rebars into the concrete driveway in order to extend the pad. This adhesive works great. However, you must work quickly. Otherwise the plastic mixing tubes will get clogged quickly. Also you have to leave the adherent material alone for a couple of days in order to make sure that the bond has formed well.

Used to to secure something into the concrete and it wouldn’t set 1 month later and it’s still soft was supposed to harden in 4 min

Does not mix well and a pain to use
I bought this based on the strength it was supposed to provide. The problem is the mixing and distribution of the material. Some genius thought that having the material swirl while in the dispensing nozzle might work, but it totally fails. First off, almost all hardener came out with no base which not only screws up the mixture but clogged the nozzle. And then you are constantly fighting to get the mixture correct. Better off just buying the two regular tubes and mixing it yourself. Then there is the other fact that you get to use this twice since you only have two nozzles and they can't be reused. So you end up throwing them away (they hardened up pretty quick) and trying to get the correct mixture out without any nozzle (virtually impossible to do since you can't control how much hardener and base to get out of the tube at any time). And as you notice this stuff is expensive. Very expensive comparted to what else it out there. For me, a total bust and worse, a waste as I could never get the mixture correct due to the issues previously mentioned so the strength is not there. Now I have to redo it with the brands that have two small tubes for a1/4 the price and none of the headaches.
