Questions & Answers

Is this product strong enough and heat resistant enough to bond stone ledgers to a drywalled wood burning fireplace?

Asked by: SED
Hello and thank you for your question. SikaBond Ultimate Grab can be used to bond stone ledgers but the heat is the issue. SikaBond Ultimate Grab has a service temperature of -40 to 170 °F (-40 to 76 °C). Fireplaces and fire pits are high heat applications.

Will it bond wood to concrete?

Asked by: PaulW
Yes. I bonded acrylic to concrete and after 15 minutes I could not remove it. I would assume it would do the same with wood on concrete.

Can this be used to seal poly sheet as a vapor barrier?

Can this be used to seal poly sheet as a vapor barrier?
Asked by: Will5
Hello and thank you for your question. SikaBond Ultimate Grab is a polyurethane based adhesive. Polyurethanes typically do not have strong adhesion to extremely smooth surfaces, such as polyethylene, polypropylene and so on. Testing is recommended for this application, to ensure adhesion.

How flexible is this? Looking to seal up some cement cracks on the exterior of my home.

How flexible is this? Looking to seal up some cement cracks on the exterior of my home.
Asked by: Mike
Flexible enough I suppose, but I’d recommend a different product for your needs. To seal cracks in concrete, especially on the exterior, I recommend PL Urethane sealant, Loctite PL 10 fl. oz. Polyurethane Concrete Crack and Masonry Sealant Compliments rough surfaces like masonry and stucco One-time application, resists age hardening No primer required for most materials, Lower installation costs You can get it at Home Depot, it is very durable, and it is the perfect thing for your application. Here is a link to the webpage it’s on: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Loctite-PL-10-fl-oz-Polyurethane-Concrete-Crack-and-Masonry-Sealant-1618522/203156788?keyword=Pl+urethane+masonry+caulk

It bonds to just about any rough or textured surface. If it is smooth and you can ruff up the surface, that will help. It has a little flexibility and does not set up hard like other adhesives. Use gloves when applying it because its hard to get off your hands. Push a little adhesive up and out of the plastic tube, this will make it very easy to pull and get to fresh adhesive. (A little trick if you don't have a cap) We have used this product for years and use it for wood transitions or any wood product, block or brick work, plywood subfloors. We have also used it for small cracks on indoor concrete. because of it flexibility and bonding ability's. If you want it to stick, use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed! I had a difficult job of installing speaker wiring outdoors under my back patio against house. I needed to run about 35 ft of 4 14g wires packed together in pvc housing that was 3/8" in diameter so it has some weight to it as well. It tried anchoring the wiring up with various cable clamps but found that every stud I needed to nail or screw into had metal bracket in way behind the drywall. I got this product hoping it would allow me to just put down a bead of adhesive in upper corner and hold wiring up in place while drying. Well, that is exactly what it did. I put about 4ft Brad down at a time then pressed wire housing into it firmly, then repeated that down the wall. As soon as I pressed into adhesive it held immediately and dryed in place without falling off patio ceiling.

Used to bond 6"x14"x1.5"+/- concrete veneers to a 2'x25' vertical concrete block wall. Worked at getting good clean surfaces. Veneers were mostly applied in 80-90Deg F air temps. Application of adhesive very generous and all materials was easy to dispense. Most of the thicker veneers at higher air temps required a support to hold, low mass and cooler temps the adhesive worked as advertised. I tested the water resistance bond strength of this adhesive by soaking fully cured bonded samples ( by manufacturers info) in water for a few days. Bond joints were stronger than the materials bonded together for my purpose. Time will tell if the veneers stay bonded to the surface applied. Would use again if need and would recommend. Would like to see better price break on multiple sleeve buys.

I used this to glue down some loose bricks by our flower bed and it's worked well. Held up nicely after all this time. Dust it, and even spray it down and let it dry completely. I wasn't able to cover the gaps between the bricks and concrete, but that's ok. It's still held down nicely. It's not a flower bed that anyone sits on or jumps on, but once in a while if a car is parked very closely to it, someone may step on it, which is why it came loose in the first place. So far this has been the best solution. If we added concrete, it would've made it thicker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GO VERTICAL Tried out for the first time setting 6"x70" Hardi-Backer board vertical on a counter top face, with no fasteners or bracing. Went thru the whole tube. Did the job - was able to go right to setting edging without movement. The thickness is a challenge to work with - and 5-8 days to fully cure! 24 hours later is still rubbery and tacky. You also want to try a new product by Liquid Nails - FUSE IT - Found exclusively at the Home Depot in fact. Just the right thickness without being hard to work with. It's my go to adhesive - been thru half a dozen tubes in my tile projects easy. Used FUSE IT to set all the vertical tiles in this project pictures - also great vertical holding power. Watch the videos here on the FUSE IT page. Cures in HOURS - not days. Also used FUSE IT to glue back on a micro-wave oven handle that came off in the wife's hands. Did not expect it to hold - 24 hours later back to normal use - been fixed for weeks now - and micro-wave oven doors open hard. FUSE IT also fixed the sloppy wiggle on towel rack fittings that had been an announce for years.
