    White Streaks in Sandstone
Two out of three tubes weren’t mixed properly and had white sealant material in the last 2” of the tube. Resulted in white streaks in what should have been solid sandstone color. Now I have to cut out and patch areas.

Sikafex Sealant Cracks as it Ages
I used this product years ago to fill driveway cracks. I had hoped it would end the problem of weeds growing in the driveway. Unfortunately, if shrinks as it ages and leaves cracks that weeds can grow thru. It requires maintenance every few years. I have to replace sections with cracks and that are loose. Also, it is very expensive. Due to the combination of being expensive and requiring maintenance, I can only rate it Fair.

Although our products have been known to last 5+ years there is no exact number for the life span of the product as several external factors also effect the longevity of the sealant. Some customers may need to replace their sealant more frequently than others. A few example of things that may effect the sealant are weather-does it experience all four seasons, humid or dry climate, etc., vehicle or pedestrian traffic, was the product paint/sealed, has it been contaminated with any solvents, and the surface preparation that was done when the product was initially applied. Have a love/hate relationship with this product. I have used a lot of it. It is a good product that lays nice and flat, looks nice.... but I've had issues with the tubes popping from the inside and sealant leaks from the inside, sometimes without you knowing it until its running out....everywhere. I've probably had 4 tubes do this. Not only do you have the cost of the tube that gets thrown out, you have basically a junk caulk gun that is covered with sealant. I threw that last gun away because I didn't have enough solvent to get it all off. Plus the risk of destroying concrete from it leaking everywhere. Lastly, these are just store issues. You have to be very careful and make sure you're getting the right color. Almost every time I'll grab half a dozen tubes of one color only to find out there was another color not put in the right place and gets mixed in. Finally, the last time I bought 4 tubes from HD, I got home and found that all 4 had expired the month prior to me buying them. A lot of extra costs to use this.

Thank you for being a Sika customer. We are sorry to hear you've experienced leaking cartridges. Typically this will result when the cartridge has been damaged, dropped or dented near the plunger, at the store. It is important to ensure the product is within shelf life and free of any visible dents prior to purchasing. SikaRetail

Bought 17 tubes last year. Weatheted well...filled well. Very sticky recommend that all pet owners secure animals for 8 hours. Took three days and a lot of effort to get off my dogs paws with just a quick walk thru after a few hours. Saved my concrete driveway from erosion. All this rain has created new spots on walk ways. This stuff is awesome at creating a rubber like joint that expands and extracts with weather. Worth the cost and the sticky mess during application. Always have a heavy duty bucket to put your gun in while applying.

Great as pool mastic. Some guy wanted to charge me $500 to replace the mastic around my pool; I think not! Was able to do it for under $50 and a few hours of my time. This product is a wonder. Easy to open, easy to load (be sure you buy the large/30 oz. caulk gun), easy to use (wear gloves and keep towels nearby for wipe up). I did use a backer rod under it and sprinkled sand on top for color (note: manufacturer doesn't want you to put sand on it, but all the cool kids do it anyway). The color of this is a very pale peach without topping. I had around 50 ft of a 3/4" W x 1/4" D gap to fill - I ended up using 1 full tube and around 80% of another one. I bought three tubes just in case, but easily returned the unused third one to HD.

I bought several tubes of this to fill cracks and uneven areas on my pool deck. One of the tubes was a disaster. It would never dry. It remained sticky for weeks, and eventually months after application. Eventually it stopped being sticky, but only because the surface became coated with dust and other debris, so now it looks terrible, being no longer "sandstone" colored, but dark gray. The other tubes were fine, but I can't tolerate that sort of "quality control". And now there's nothing I can do, except maybe paint it.

Hello and thank you for being a Sika customer. We are very sorry to hear about this incident. This type of issue (tacky/won't cure) is only seen when there is another chemical near it or on the sealant. For example, if this joint had asphalt based backing material in it, this would cause a chemical attack. Paints or sealers which are silicone based or have a high solvent content are not recommended. The sealant should be cut out and replaced with fresh material. The expiration date is on the plunger. SikaRetail

Used it to fill deep cracks in driveway. Backed by 3/4” open cell backer rod. Flows really well & looks good. Wish it would dry a little quicker, because I couldn’t use the drive for 36 hours.

Very easy to use. Just have to purchase the larger size caulking gun. If the gap you are trying to fill is deeper than a 1/2" you should use some sand or fill material as you will use way to much of this to fill it. It does level out nicely and seems to have good adhesive to the concrete that I used it on. Attached are two photos I took of this product that was installed 4-5 years ago.
