About This Product

SilveRboard Acoustic Rigid Foam Insulation kit - 12 sheets - coverage 96 sq.ft - is a high performance flat-sheet insulation material made from Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) which is coated with a layer of reflective film laminated on both sides. This highly effective combination of materials offers a higher R-value per inch compared to traditional flat-sheet rigid foam insulation coupled with exceptional acoustic performance (STC 19), as well as provides built-in moisture and air barriers which eliminate the need for house wrap. SilveRboard Rigid Foam Insulation (EPS) offers builders a higher performance product which increases job-site efficiency and reduces labor costs.

Highlights

  • SilveRboard acoustic reduces sounds transmission (STC 19) through interior walls and can be used in conjunction with fiberglass batt to meet or exceed most building code - sound numbers
  • SilveRboard acoustic rigid foam insulation (EPS) can be used for floor, wall and roof insulation for above and below grade - indoor and outdoor- ideal for insulating garage and shed doors
  • SilveRboard acoustic is ideal for walls, floors and ceilings, bathrooms/laundry rooms, theater and quiet rooms- providing low profile thermal and acoustic attenuation
  • Creates thermal envelope for maximum heat/cooling efficiency, the non-perforated film functions as a vapor barrier when joints are taped with an approved vapor barrier tape
  • No off-gassing and does not contain HFCs, CFCs or HCFCs; Exceptional Long-Term Thermal Resistance (LTTR); and increased thermal resistance in lower temperatures

Can this be put on a mobile home roof between old metal and new metal to help with vibration and sound

Answer This Question

Can this be put between studs on exterior and interior with batts on top?
ByMar 14, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Yes, it can be used between studs, but if you want to take advantage of the thermal properties and reduce thermal bridging, you should be putting full boards on the outside covering the studs so that the exterior finish you have on the house is on top of the foam and not in direct connection with the studs. Good luck HC.

Can these panels be painted and still reflect heat inside my basement area?
    ByJan 23, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Ideally panels should not be painted but can yes be painted. Fire regulations in most cities in the US and Canada prohibit the use of any type of rigid foam that does nit have a fire rated covering like drywall or OSB in any occupied areas in any home . Good luck HC

I have a furnace located in a closet in my bedroom. Can I line the closet with this to reduce the noise? (tired of sleeping on the couch). Thanks!
      ByJan 19, 2026
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Yes you can - If very noisy I would recommend two layers. I will caution however that in a closet you should use a fire retardant acoustic panel just to be safe . Good Luck, HC

Can several panels be installed on top of each other to increase both the R value (the little amount it does have) and to increase the sound proofing capabilities?
        ByOct 22, 2025
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

Yes they can - in fact the compound effect of multiple layers will increase the STC rating in a nonlinear fashion. Example -3 sheets will not yield STC57 but closer to STC 61-63. NOTE- To achieve max sound attenuation the panels must fill the surface are very tightly with no gaps. Good Luck, HC

Can this product be used under a double wide mobile home
            ByAug 19, 2025
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Yes it can - mold mildew and water proof. However to give you damage and animal/rodent protection, it should be covered with a thin layer of say 1/4" plywood on the outside. Good Luck, HC

I am renovating a horse trailer into a camping trailer. How would I attach this insulation to the metal walls of the horse trailer?
              ByJul 26, 2025
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

If the walls are wood you should use screws with 1-1.5" panel washers ( big washers small holes ) If sides are metal use high tack spay glue or adhesive caulk ( fast grab ) . If are putting internal face panels over the foam, simply use some double sided tape top hold the foam in place then crew the screws for the paneling straight through the foam -it will not compromise the R value . Do not overtighten the paneling screws so the panel face remains flat and smooth. Good Luck. HC

                Good for Commercial-type Garage Doors
This is a good alternative for unconventionally sized overhead doors. My shop door is 10X10 with 15 panels that are approximately 23" x 37". The 1" board combined with 1/2" support foam board on both sides made for a good tight fit without damaging the appearance. I added narrow strips of the 1" inside of the vertical channels and 3/8" adhesive strip insulation in the bottom cavity of each panel which also helped create a snug fit. I can't yet vouch for performance since I only just installed the product.

Super happy with this insulation board! I used it to insulate my horse barn. The difference is very noticeable and I haven’t even go lt the roof done yet! Very easy to cut and put up… warning you WILL end up with styrofoam beads when you cut it so keep that in mind when you pick your prep area

Good looking isolation for garage door panels
The product is tidy and clean. Used as isolation on my garage doors. It looks very nice when the panels are filled with the board. However it's not so easy to cut the board. Also the board is pretty hard so you can't cut it to full size of each panel because the board cannot be bent to fit in that means you have to leave certain gaps around. The other issue is that one package contains 5 pieces but a garage door usually has 8 panels. For double garage doors, 3 packages are not enough but 4 is too much. I purchased 3 packages and combined the cut off leftover to fill up the last panel. Hope they can change to 4 pieces a pack.

118 year old house, cupboards nailed to wall, brick home, cut pieces to specific measures and glued to back wall…. Definitely see a difference in warmth… easy enough, long process but worth it.

                    Redid my closet wall
purchased a house about 4 years ago and my room always fluctuated with the outside temps. Figured out that the closet wall was uninsulated. I have added 2 inches of the 1 inch SilveRboard and it has already made a difference after just a few hours. was extremely easy to cut and install. I sealed the boards with the foil tape and the edges and any gaps with the canned 1inch gap filler spray foam

                      Great for Garage Door Insulation
Purchased these panels to insulate our garage doors. Worked very well. Panels are easy to fit easily. Large cuts you can snap it like drywall. A serrated knife worked well for smaller cut-outs. A little tricky not to snap a panel when installing though. Some good YouTube videos helped with some tricks. Wish the product writing wasn't on both sides so you didn't have to see it once installed. If you are concerned how the finished product looks, be sure to cut and install with all the logos going the same way. Overall, these are highly recommended.

The product is easy to cut, shape, and install. It out performs other products with it's higher R value, and reflective skin. Highly recommend. Used it to make an indoor dog house for my short haired pet who gets chilled by drafts. She loves it!

                      Good & economic solution
It's good. I installed it on my garage doors after reading online reviews that it makes the garage not loose heat and does not let's cold creep in.. I definitely see that the panels are warmer than the hinges... Earlier entire door was cold now only the hinges are cold.. So I would say 85 percent of the door is blocking the cold out to a larger extent. Which is substantially good. I can put the bubble wrap insulation on hinges and panel liners, but just a little lazy and so far it's not making the bottles freeze in the garage.. M in Brampton west, Ontario. I like the product, it was easy to cut with regular cutter or a knife... I used the regular cutter & was able to snug fit in the door panels. No need of glue. Yes I recommend it as a nice cheap alternative to replace a garage door just for insulation.
