Product Details

Post and column bases secure the bottom of posts or columns to concrete and are perfect for decks or patio covers. Models are available for attaching to existing hardened concrete, wet concrete, as well as wood. The BC series offers dual purpose post cap/base for light cap or base applications.
  • Provides a positive connection for a post to a wood deck
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening
  • Reduces the chance of the post splitting and eliminates nailing into end grain
  • Not recommended for non top-supported installations (such as fences or unbraced carports)
  • Nominal post size: 4x
  • Galvanized for extra corrosion resistance
  • Install with 16d common nails or 10 x 1-1/2 in. strong-drive SD screws

A:  I am guessing it was the #9 SD Connector screw that was used (the SDS is a different screw and not a #9). The #9 x 1 1/2" SD screw is not permitted with the BC4 and must be replaced by the #10 x 2 1/2" SD Connector screw (please note the length difference as well - the BC4 would not be rated with the #10 x 1 1/2" SD Connector screw). Thank you!

      A:  The large holes are pilot holes used during the manufacturing process; bolts are not to be installed here. The BC4 requires 16d common or 16d x 2 1/2" nails. Thank you!

              I used to connect 4x4 to 4x4
              I created a box type decoration for my garden and used this strong tie to connect a 4x4 perpendicular to another 4x4. I used 2” strong tie screws to secure the posts. Really easy to install.
