Hi Cesar, this is Bekah from Simpson Strong-Tie. The BC60Z is designed for a post base installation. If you are looking for something for Beam to Post then the BC series may work. Depending on the size beams/post you are looking for possibly a BC6 or BCS2-3/6. If you are looking for a post to beam connection I recommend utilizing our Post to Beam Selector that can be found at https://app.strongtie.com/pbs?_ga=2.245059845.1835741151.1731881805-1478518267.1711638412. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.
What if my contractor already used this to connect my beams to a 6x6 posts? Is this secured?

Hi Colby, this is Colin from Simpson Strong-Tie. The hole in the bottom of the BC60Z is a pilot hole (does not require a fastener) that is .563" in diameter. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. Thank you.
Hi Diyer, this is Colin with Simpson Strong-Tie. The BC60 base is load rated for both lateral and uplift load directions. It is not load rated to resist any post rotation about the base, so it is important that the post be braced and/or top supported to resist the top of the post from moving laterally. To achieve the allowable loads listed on our website, the BC60 ust be installed with 0.162" x 3½" nails that have full penetration into wood below the post. This would require wood blocking or rim board material below your sill plate. I hope this is helpful. Thanks.
Ianp, this is McKenzie from Simpson Strongtie. The BC60 would be for a base application, not designed for a cap. Thanks.
Hey Eric, Ricardo here with Simpson. The BC post base is a light-duty 18 ga. material and does not include a standoff plate at the bottom. My suggestion is to consider a better option like the ABA and ABU series bases. Ultimately, we do not make this call. If there are concerns over structural integrity and you have not already, I would suggest reaching out to a design professional to evaluate your structure before proceeding. If you would like to talk further you can also contact us at (800)999-5099
Hi Tanm, thank you for your message. The BC base is for very light weight conditions and only for wood-to-wood connections. I could not recommend for anchoring into concrete. For wood post to existing concrete, I would recommend considering the ABU base connection. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.
Hello Dbuilds, this is Stacy with Simpson Strong-Tie. The BC post base does not have provide adequate resistance to prevent members from rotating about the base and therefore I would be unable to say if it is okay to use for a newel post. If you wish to discuss this further please call us at (800) 999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.
