CB post base has galvanized finish which could be painted over given proper cleaning and preparation of surfaces. Note that galvanized finish on CB66 is recommended for interior dry service conditions. You'd need to consider CB66HDG, which has hot-dip galvanized finish, if the base is installed in exterior wet conditions. Note that required bolts are not supplied with the base. The bolts finish needs to match that of the base. American Galvanizers Association is a good resource for information on painting over galvanized finish. The CB is only tested/rated for vertical (uplift) loads. Except for the MPBZ moment post base, post bases do not provide adequate resistance to prevent members from rotating about the base and are therefore not recommended for non-top-supported installations (such as fences or unbraced carports). The top of the post must be restrained from moving horizontally by some other means, e.g., by tying the roof into a supporting structure or by adding knee bracing between the posts and beams. Alternatively, see the MPBZ for a post base that provides moment resistance for columns or posts. Thank you!

This heavy duty post anchor was installed in concrete up to the post base plate. 6X6 treated posts were then lag-bolted to the anchor.

The CB66 is made from G90 galvanized steel which is galvanized by a hot-dip process (prior to the part being fabricated), however, this base is also offered in a post-fabricated hot-dipped version (CB66HDG). The CB66 (G90) has a low level of corrosion protection while the CB66HDG has a medium level of corrosion protection.
