Q:Is this made with flanges longer than .75 inches? This short length does not let the screws grab much of the 2x4. Even 1 would be better than .75.

Cheaper at Home Depot than local lumber yard
Same fence bracket at the local lumber yard was .30ea more which adds up when you're building a lot of fence. Good value at HD

            Rusted bad within a month
These are easy to use, but rusted horribly in contact with treated lumber 2x4's on our deck railing project. Now we have to rip them out throw them away or perhaps paint them which I'm sure would work better than this fake galvanized coating they claim to use. This is not a corrosion resistant product, do not use outdoors with treated lumber or you will be sorry you trusted their galvanized product description.

Did great job of adding strength to an old fence. The fence was toenailed in, and parts of it were rotted in places. I pulled it apart, screwed these to the posts, and put some of the better sections of the fence back together. It also worked great on the new sections that I had to rebuild.

This definitely made it easier to install my fencing. Like others mentioned it could be improved by being a little deeper, especially when you use the recommened screws where the screw head sticks out on the inside of the bracket into the 2x4 not allowing the 2x4 end to fit flush into the bracket, taking away some of the metal lateral bracing. To remedy that, before installed I simply placed the bracket on the 2x4 end, marked the holes with a pencil, and then used my drill and a counter sink bit about a 1/4" deep on those hole marks so the screw would fit flush. Added about 30 seconds to each joint but fit much nicer. The only other snag someone might encounter is a couple of my posts were landscape timbers, not fence posts. Since these are rounded the brackets would not align when secured on the rounded edge. You can either chisel the post square where the bracket meets, use a table saw to rip the whole post square, or change the post. This will only be a problem when rounded landscape timbers are used and the bracket will be secured to the rounded side.

These are good for a project that needs fast setting of 2x4’s or for a one man project like I did. Great for budgeting but if a strong connection is needed go with a heavier duty tie.
