The H2.5A single-sided hurricane tie is designed to resist moderate loads at the rafter/truss-to-top-plate connection. As part of a continuous load path, the H2.5A resists both lateral and uplift loads. The symmetrical design eliminates the need for separate right and left parts.

Can I use 1.5" #10 pan head wood screws? Or longer?
Hi Rnot51, this is Bekah from Simpson Strong-Tie. The H2.5A uses (5) 0.131 x 2 1/2" nails into the rafter/truss and (5) 0.131 x 2 1/2" nails into the plates for full catalog loads. Additionally we offer loads for using 0.131 x 1 1/2" nails as well or you can use #9 x 1 1/2" StrongDrive SD Screws (SD9112). Can this be used for treated lumber?
Hi Derek, this is Bekah from Simpson Strong-Tie. The H2.5AZ are ZMAX. ZMAX is a medium level of corrosion resistance. The level of corrosion resistance needed for your specific application would be depend upon the the treatment chemicals for your specific lumber. Is it likely that my home already has something like these hurricane ties to prevent uplift

What is the length of the piece? We are building a 4 ft x 8 ft on ground garden 12 inches high. One kit available seems weak, and someone suggested hurricane joints. Will these ties work?
