Will 1/2” phillips flat head wood screw fit in the holes of the strap?
ByJun 28, 2026

Answer This Question

Hi Lori, this is Bekah from Simpson Strong-Tie. The LSTA12 is designed to be installed with either 0.148 x 2 1/2 nails or our SD #9 screw when installing into wood or if using in a CFS application a #10 self drilling screw. We do not have load/data information on installing with other screws. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

Are these straps considered 1000lbs straps?
    ByApr 7, 2022

    Answer This Question

Good morning Alex, this is McKenzie with Simpson Strong-Tie. The LSTA12 strap is going to fall just below 1,000 lbs loading. Depending on the lumber you are using your loads with the LSTA would be either 925 (DF or SP Lumber) or 795 (SPF or HF Lumber). You can take a look on our website www.strongtie.com with a search of LSTA and look at some of the the longer options that will meet/exceed 1,000 lbs.

can you bend these, for example to go around a 2" square steel tube, and then i'd nail or screw the two sides to the underlying asphalt. i have a vise i can use to do this just not sure if it loses structural integrity with 90 degree bends. if not, is there a recommended product? this will be holding down a carport structure.

      Answer This Question

      Yes, this gauge is bendable.

      By|Jun 3, 2020

You can bend these but I’m not sure how much strength you need. If you need them to hold down a large structure from wind and all, they are not strong enough

The strap was very useful keeping the firewood rack uprights stable for the new rack I built. I used them years ago and they are still in great shape.

Great for securing joints in tight spaces. Easy to manipulate to the size and angle that you need. Don’t use if you need sheer support. Choose another type of product.

I purchased 4 of these to use in our kitchen with 4 magnetic lights. I mounted them on the bottom of our wood cabinets to provide a steel surface for the lights. They have worked out extremely well, and at slightly less than $1 per strap, the project was quite economical.

I installed indoor/outdoor carpeting on my pool deck and I used these braces for the edges. They hold the carpet in pace perfectly.
