Q:Why does Simpson recommend not mixing screws and nails in the same joist hanger? For example using the SD screws to mount the hanger and hot dipped galvanized nails to toe nail the joist to the header.

Affordable and Sturdy
Bought it while planning to buil a riser for my theater. Because of the load and type of lumber I was using, I made the right choice. They are sturdy, strong, durable and the opposite flush face has pointy shape that can stick into the wood and two other holes to permanently hold the hoizontal lumber.

These hangers were used for my porch and they were very easy to use. The tabs are nice as they are used to hold the piece into place. Just make sure to align everything and it works as intended. Its been 3 years since my deck install and it still holds steady.

My porch broke in a section and so after inspecting i saw the problem was not just in one spot but growing all over. If I had not gotten this product and fixed the problem, My entire porch would have completely collapsed - it would not have made it through this summer, and definitely not the winter. A complete Porch Replacement would have cost probably 15-20k. After installing about 35 of these hangers, i predict the life of my porch just got extended to another 10 years. Thanks You Home Depot.

Just finished redoing the dock deck and it needed new joist hangers. Easy to use and super strong for the job and they last a long time. We also use these for all of the Veteran Home Repair projects we do thanks to the generosity of the Home Depot Foundation.
