About This Product
Joist hangers are designed to provide support underneath the joist, rafter or beam to provide a strong a connection. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a diverse line of hangers to handle almost any application with top flange, concealed flange and field-skewable and slopeable options. The LUS is an easy-to-install, economical hanger designed for common lumber sizes. This widely used hanger features double-shear nailing that distributes the load through two points on each joist nail for greater strength. This allows for fewer nails, faster installation and the use of all common nails for the same connection.

Thank you for bringing to our attention the incorrect information on Home Depot's website for this specific part; I will send that over to be corrected. If using our Strong-Drive SD Connector Screws with the LUS210-2Z you would use (8) SD9112 into the header and (6) SD9212 into the joist. Hi Frank, this is Bekah from Simpson Strong-Tie. The LUS24Z is designed for a nominal 2x4 member. The LUS24Z has a width of 1 9/16" and a nominal 2x4 is 1 1/2" this minimal space that is left is designed for nominal lumber that is sometimes cut slightly larger, or has expanded slightly. In this application no shim is needed. This space is minimal at a 1/16". Whether or not this hanger will meet the load requirements of your design is not for us to say, this would be up to the design professional for your project.
