A: Hi Roger, this is Ricardo with Simpson Strong-Tie. We value your time and would like to look into your concerns with the #9 X 2 1/2" screws in connection to our LUS hanger. Our Customer Service team is available to talk with you directly and take you through a step-by-step solution. Please call us at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.
A: I believe it will work. #9 screws are thin enough for the 10d holes. Depending on your building codes and if your project is inspected, I’d confirm with a local builder. There should be several around the lumber dept at HD who will give you a straight answer.
A: Hello Mike, this is Ricardo. The 1 1/2" screw does not allow for full penetration through the joist and into the header and therefore will not satisfy the requirements for the shear nailing aspects of the hanger. We would suggest to use the #9 x 2 1/2" SD screw instead. The load values that are associated with the SD Connector Screw can be found on our website at this link. https://www.strongtie.com/facemounthangersssl_solidsawnlumberconnector/lus_hanger/p/lus If you have any questions, please reach out to our Technical Support team at (800)999-5099. Hope you have a great day.
A: Go to the Simpson Strong website. They publish all of the spécifications for their hardware to meet code, including choice of SS fasteners, Do not rely upon 3rd party information.
A: Hi Daniel, thank you for your message. This is Ricardo with Simpson Strong-Tie. The LUS48Z is for a nominal 4x8 lumber while the LUS28-2Z is for nominal double 2x8 joist. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.
A: Hello Newbie2this, this is Stacy with Simpson Strong-Tie. We would not recommend mixing nails and screws. Generally for a 2x ledger we would recommend using 1.5" nails or screws into the ledger. For example, if you were to only use SD screws then (8) SD #9 x 1 1/2" into the ledger and (4) SD #9 x 2 1/2" screws would be used into the joist. If you have any questions please call us at (800) 999-5099. we look forward to speaking with you.
