They are galvanized and should hold up well. I just used them when building a chicken coop and they are holding up fine. I did use one on each side of all the seams and it made my truss very strong

Almost impossible for a person to get these mending plates...
Almost impossible for a person to get these mending plates attached without the machine that mashes them into the wood. Normal people should stay far away from these since they are totally useless and extremely frustrating. I returned them to the store.
