Q:What is the difference between these and the NON-ZMAX brackets? In the specifications they both say the exact same thing; both are 12-gauge steel & galvanized (G90), but these are more than double the price.

Q:I need to use a 10' pipe, and 2" EMT (actual o.d. 2 3/16") is cheaper here than a custom cut 2" fence post (actual od 2 3/8"). Will the pinch bolt take up the extra 3/8" and still grip the pipe tightly enough?

Work Great
These Simpson Strong-Tie Galvanized Pipe Grip Ties for 2" Pipes (2-3/8" OD) work fantastic. As you can see I used these to support pipes that would be under tension and bolted to a wall to support a sun screen cover, and they did exactly what I wanted them to do. With these supports the pipes don't move at all, and same with the tension adjustments that get made on a regular basis. Bolt them to the wall and then tighten the through bolt to lock the pipe into place, it's as simple as that.

An option for end posts
These Simpson brackets have one advantage over the Oz-Post ones -- you can cut off one whole side tab and use the bracket very close to the end of a board with an end post. See photos. I suppose these also have the advantage of not having two clamp bolts & nuts sticking out, although the Oz-Post ones seem generally more robust. The main disadvantage is that these brackets hold the wood board further out from the post, because of the space needed for the clamping bolt.

super strong clamp with tightening screw to maximize retention on pipe ... my installation had a fence post which was just a bit too small for this model, the item was returned ... nonetheless, excellent quality and good value
