    A:  I have used these for just that purpose. If the LVL is already supported with jack studs, then these used to just hold the jack studs to the LVL is fine. No weight is on them, they just prevent the LVL from sliding out of the pocket.

      A:  In my humble opinion, these Strong Ties are just not the right product. You need to use steel plate to reinforce not the sheet metal used to make these.
